Job Summary:
EWU is currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position: Fiscal Analyst 1 within our Advancement Services department. This is a permanent part time (62.5 FTE) position with full benefits.
  • Responsible for providing support in areas such as budget, maintenance, purchasing, travel, expenditure control and/or fiscal analysis. Under general direction will perform accounts payable and cash disbursement procedures and assist with the development and implementation of accounting systems and procedures.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or closely related field.
  • Two years professional level experience in financial field. Experience should include processing accounts payable, preparing month-end accounting entries and preparation of financial statements.
  • Experience with spreadsheets, tables and charts or similar tools (e.g., Microsoft Office).
  • Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility and/or diversity.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in a higher education or governmental setting.
  • Experience with MIP software

Job Duties:

Responsibility / Duty:
  • Interface with advancement staff members and campus community regarding foundation fund balances.
  • Ensure compliance with guidelines governing disbursements in processing accounts payable.
  • Prepare weekly or bi-weekly disbursements from foundation funds.
  • Issue reports monthly to all restricted discretionary account controllers.
  • Issue reports quarterly to all deans/vice presidents summarizing activity for all restricted discretionary and restricted scholarship accounts for each college.
  • Issue reports annually to all deans/vice presidents summarizing activity for all endowment scholarship and endowment program accounts for each college.
  • Verify a vendor or person has been paid.
  • Compile and prepare Form 1099s as required by the IRS.
  • Maintain a record keeping system for recording budget transactions; review budget reports, verify accuracy and take corrective action if necessary; reconcile budget status reports and prepare expenditure projections; notify Director of Advancement Services of any projected or actual over- or under-expenditures.
  • Assist with cash reconciliations monthly.
  • Assist with reconciling Balance Sheet accounts, including cash and investments.

Responsibility / Duty:
  • Provide support to the Director of Advancement Services in the preparation of unaudited financial statements issued to the Foundation Board of Directors on a monthly and/or quarterly basis.
  • Prepare, compile, and provide certain schedules for the foundations independent audit.
  • Assist with the annual preparation of the IRS Form 990 tax return for the EWU Foundation and the EWU Alumni Association.

  • Assist with the preparation of the Foundations annual report.
  • Assist in creating annual reports to donors who have established endowment accounts.

  • During the course of university employment this position will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value; as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment.

Salary Information: $24,832.50 - $33,090 (62.5 FTE)
