POSITION SUMMARY
The Community College of Aurora invites applications for a Nursing Faculty position. This Nursing Faculty member will be an essential part of the nursing program and the students' educational experience. The successful candidate will have a passion for student success as well as high-quality, effective, engaging, inclusive, and student-centered instruction. The Nursing program is committed to quality instruction through high academic standards, high student support, and a strong commitment to student engagement and success. Faculty in this position will utilize this framework to make complex concepts accessible to students through curriculum development, evidence-based instruction, student outcomes assessment, and ongoing program evaluation. Faculty duties include teaching and service as guided by SP 3-31. Teaching responsibilities include the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. Teaching responsibilities are aligned with individual, department, school, and college goals. In order to ensure the success of our diverse student population, faculty members maintain a commitment to high-quality instruction, student-centered philosophies, and the ongoing pursuit of excellence through professional development. Service can include, but is not limited to, curriculum coordination and development; clinical oversight; advising and outreach; system, college-wide and campus committee work; sponsoring and participating in student activities; and attendance at college activities and events. This is a 9-month contract paid over 12 months adhering to a typical college schedule.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Faculty and Student Engagement

  • Demonstrates a deep commitment to student success through positive interactions.
  • Utilizes diverse, flexible teaching strategies to accommodate various learning styles and motivations.
  • Encourages students to reach their academic goals by relating course work to real world experiences.
  • Facilitates learning in the various settings to include didactic, clinical, simulation, or skills lab, evaluating learner achievement.
  • Attends faculty meetings and participates in committees that support the mission of the nursing program and College.

Instructional Development & Quality
  • Lead the development, review, and revision of curriculum, course outlines, and syllabi.
  • Assist with the semester class schedule, college catalog updates, and textbook selection.
  • Participate in program reviews and accreditation processes.
  • Maintain program advisory committee to ensure industry and discipline relevance.
Curriculum and Assessment
  • Develop and update syllabi and course materials to ensure relevancy and compliance with state and nursing accreditation guidelines.
  • Design evaluation methods and supplemental resources that align directly with course objectives.
  • Lead and participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes (SLOs) for the nursing program.
Service: Institutional and Professional Contributions
  • Represent the college on internal committees, task forces, and community boards.
  • Support student recruitment efforts and divisional activities as requested by leadership.
  • Develop and implement alternative delivery modes, including didactic, lab, simulation, and clinical instruction.
  • Partner with the Interim Director of Nursing Education, Associate Vice President, and Dean on strategic institutional projects.
Inclusive Instruction & Student Success
  • Apply evidence-based, inclusive teaching strategies to help close student equity gaps.
  • Demonstrate cultural competence and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Employ qualitative and quantitative analytical skills to evaluate and improve classroom learning.
  • Maintain accurate student records and provide consistent, constructive feedback.
  • Relate to student concerns through open communication and proactive advising support.
General Duties
  • Plan, organize, and evaluated teaching activities and curriculum design.
  • Apply analytical skills to enhance the learning environment.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Maintain precise student records in alignment with institutional policies and procedures.
  • Ensure students are fully informed of all course requirements and expectations.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback on a continuous basis.
  • Engage with student concerns through proactive and open communication.
  • Collaborate effectively with diverse populations to support an inclusive campus.




REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from a Nursing Education Program with national nursing accreditation.
  • Possess an active current, unencumbered Colorado RN License.
  • Two years of full-time, or equivalent, professional nursing clinical experience.
  • One (1) year of teaching experience (i.e. clinical instructor, adjunct instructor, unit educator, Hospital nursing educator, etc.)
  • Must possess or be eligible to obtain a Colorado Career and Technical Education (CTE) Credential (CTE Website).
  • Ability to communicate effectively, building strong relationships with CCA's community partners.
  • Ability to effectively present information to students, faculty, academic leaders, corporate leaders, and community groups.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and implement accreditation criteria and state agency regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member.

PREFERRED QUALIFCIATIONS
  • Two (2) years of teaching experience, including didactic, clinical, and/or skills-based evaluation and assessment. (i.e. clinical instructor, adjunct instructor, unit educator, Hospital nursing educator, etc.).
  • Experience with nursing program accreditation.
  • Experience with curriculum development.
  • Experience with online teaching and Learning Management System (LMS).

Salary Range: Anticipated salary: $75,000.00 annually. This salary is determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.
