Campus Location: Lynn
SALARY: Anticipated starting salary is $59,008.00 - $63,000.00. Actual salary will be commensurate with education and experience in accordance with the MCCC/MTA collective bargaining agreement. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Full-Time Early Childhood Education Professor is responsible for teaching, advising, and supporting students enrolled in Early Childhood Education degree and certificate programs. This role includes classroom and practicum instruction, curriculum development, student advisement, and active participation in department and college initiatives. The professor demonstrates a strong understanding of NAEYC Professional Standards and Competencies and integrates these standards into instruction, assessment, and program development to promote high-quality early childhood practice. The successful candidate may be required to teach evenings and travel occasionally to early childhood education fieldwork sites.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Teaching and Instruction
- Teach a full-time course load in Early Childhood Education using face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online modalities
- Instruct courses such as Introduction to Early Childhood Education, Child Growth and Development, Foundation of Early Childhood, Curriculum Planning, and Observation, Documentation, and Assessment in Early Childhood Education.
- Deliver instruction aligned with NAEYC Professional Standards and Competencies, state regulations, and workforce expectations
- Model developmentally appropriate practice (DAP) and culturally responsive teaching aligned with NAEYC principles
- Assess student learning using multiple measures and provide timely, meaningful feedback
Student Support and Advising
- Advise and mentor ECE students regarding academic progress, licensure requirements, transfer pathways, and career opportunities
- Maintain regular office hours and communicate effectively with students
Curriculum and Program Development
- Participate in curriculum review, development, and assessment to ensure alignment with NAEYC standards, state credentialing requirements, and transfer pathways
- Contribute to program accreditation, assessment processes, including NAEYC-related documentation, and continuous improvement efforts
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure program coherence and quality
Service and College Engagement
- Participate in department, division, and college committees and governance
- Engage in community partnerships with early childhood programs, agencies, and professional organizations consistent with NAEYC values
- Support student recruitment, retention, and outreach initiatives
Professional Development
- Maintain current knowledge of NAEYC standards, position statements, and emerging best practices in early childhood education
- Participate in ongoing professional development, and serve as required by the college
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Dean of Human Services and Emergency Response Pathways
Job Requirements:
- Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a closely related field
- Minimum of three years of professional experience in early childhood education settings
- Demonstrated understanding and application of NAEYC Professional Standards and Competencies
- Experience teaching, mentoring, or training adult learners
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice, early learning standards, and early childhood program regulations
- Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or National background check as a condition of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Doctorate in a related field
- Community college teaching experience
- Experience supporting or participating in NAEYC accreditation or program alignment processes
- Experience supervising practicum or field placements
- Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and culturally responsive pedagogy consistent with NAEYC principles
- Spanish fluency
