POSITION: (FT) – Law Library Director (Associate Dean appointment may be considered based on qualifications)
Effective July 1, 2026: Law Library Director - Wilmington University School of Law.
Summary: The Wilmington University School of Law invites applications for Law Library Director, a senior leadership position responsible for the strategic direction, administration, and operations of the Law Library. Reporting to the Dean, the Director plays a key role in supporting the law school's academic mission and serves as a member of the senior leadership team.
The Director leads long-and short-range planning for the Law Library; ensures compliance with ABA and AALL standards; and provides high-quality research, instructional, and information services to faculty and students in a student-centered, practice-focused environment.
Appointment at the Associate Dean level may be considered based on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent
Admission to the bar of any U.S. jurisdiction.
Demonstrated leadership experience in a law library or comparable academic/legal information setting.
Knowledge of ABA accreditation standards and law library best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
Practice experience that is sufficiently extensive and high quality to be a foundation for teaching in the Law School's educational program.
Demonstrated ability to achieve excellence in teaching and in guiding and mentoring for the professional formation of students.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Provides strategic leadership and overall administration of the Law Library and serves as a critical member of the law school leadership team.
Lead and supervise library personnel, including recruitment and performance management.
Engages in strategic planning, resource development, and assessment of the law library operation; collaborates with the Office of Technology Resources and Support to develop strategy for technology infrastructure and digital initiatives.
Actively collaborates with the Wilmington University Library to develop library resources.
Oversees collection development efforts and policies.
Participates in national professional organizations to remain current on trends and resources and to ensure library compliance with ABA and AALL standards.
Coordinates and provides expert research support and assistance for law faculty and law students.
Develops and administers the law library's budget.
Evaluates and negotiates with vendors and providers to leverage and maximize budget resources.
Commitment to the goals and mission of the Wilmington University School of Law.
Support law school initiatives by teaching and assisting students with legal writing, academic success, and bar preparation as needed.
Promote and foster a supportive environment for all students, faculty, and staff.
Perform other duties which may be assigned by the Dean of the School of Law.
Hours of Employment: Working hours in the law library may set a flexible 40-hour schedule based on coverage in the department to support Day and Evening programs, attendance at senior leadership meetings, and to assist during orientation and exam administration. Occasional weekends as needed for special events. Required to attend all University Graduation ceremonies and Professional Development Day events.
