Job Title: Clinical Research Recruitment Specialist - Temp

This is a Temporary position limited to no more than 9-months


Job Summary:

This position will support the Clinical Research Recruitment Program in the Clinical Research Operations and Services (CROS) Office within the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research at the University of Colorado of Anschutz (CU Anschutz). This position will help investigators and research teams raise awareness and access to clinical research and better engage people in clinical research at CU Anschutz.

Under the direction of the Program Manager of the Clinical Research Recruitment Program, the Clinical Research Recruitment Specialist will be responsible for helping support the services and resources that the Clinical Research Recruitment Program offers the CU Anschutz Research Community including but not limited to recruitment consultations, social media campaigns for engaging people in clinical research, and education and training of clinical research teams on recruitment strategies and best practices. Additionally, this role will also engage with by representing CU Anschutz at health fairs and other community events.

The ideal candidate is knowledgeable about clinical research, recruitment of human research participants, and brings innovative ideas to assist study teams in reaching their recruitment goals.

Professionals at the intermediate level are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability, and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying, and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field. At the intermediate level, duties may be more limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals.

This position is a full-time, temporary position that cannot exceed 40 hours per week. This position will report to the Program Manager of the Clinical Research Recruitment Program.

Key Responsibilities:

External Communications (30%)

  • Provide guidance and support to research teams on creating and updating study webpages on the CU Anschutz Research Studies website to ensure they are meeting the data and language requirements.

  • Review study webpages on the CU Anschutz Research Studies website to ensure content meets language requirements.

  • Review social media campaign submissions and contact study teams for more information, schedule intake meetings, and assist with the creation of social media advertisements.

  • Help communicate with research teams regarding social media campaigns including confirming campaign parameters, sending campaign metrics, and obtaining enrollment numbers after campaigns end.

    Community Engagement (25%)

  • Research community-based organizations, non-profit organizations, community advocacy groups, and other organizations doing community health work that the Clinical Research Recruitment Program could collaborate with.

  • Assist the Program Manager with establishing partnerships with community organizations and key campus entities to identify and address barriers to health and improve health outcomes in underserved communities in Colorado.

  • Attend health fairs and other community events with the Program Manager to raise awareness of and access to clinical research opportunities at CU Anschutz.

  • Help identify health fairs and other community events that the Clinical Research Recruitment Program could attend.

    Internal Communications (25%)

  • Review consultation requests, contact study teams for more information, and help facilitate recruitment consultations including pre- and post-meeting preparation.

  • Assist with the Study Spotlight Newsletter including selecting imagery and curating language, as needed.

  • Help create recruitment materials including but not limited to study flyers, newspaper ads, or recruitment scripts for study teams that request our services.

    Administrative (20%)

  • Assist with updating, organizing, and analyzing Clinical Research Recruitment Program metrics and data related to all services and resources.

  • Manage researcher access to ResearchMatch and answer related questions.

  • Develop and maintain knowledge of clinical research recruitment best practices and emerging novel, innovative recruitment strategies.

  • Help with other projects, educational lectures, and presentations related to the Clinical Research Recruitment Program.


    Work Location:

    Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of #3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

    Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in science, clinical research, public health, education, or similar field.

  • 1 or more years of professional experience in clinical research, public health, education, or similar field.

  • Experience with Canva is preferred.

  • Experience in providing administrative and programmatic support.

  • Experience with OnCore, Clinical Trial Management System.

  • Experience with the Federal Plain Language Guidelines and Plain Language at NIH Resources and Trainings.

  • Experience with Smartsheet or similar software.

  • Bilingual Bicultural in Spanish and English.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

  • Outstanding customer service skills.

  • Knows when to ask questions, can work with minimal supervision, meet deadlines and expectations.

  • Able to coordinate and prioritize several simultaneous tasks with potentially conflicting priorities.

    Anticipated Pay Range:

    The hiring range for this position has been established at: $25.00 to $30.00 / hour. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, specialty and training.

    Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck. Temporary employees are only eligible for sick leave benefits.
