Job Summary


The Kutztown University Small Business Development Center (KUSBDC) supports economic development in central / south central Pennsylvania through the provision of information resources, educational programs and consulting services. The SBDC serves a four-county region consisting of Berks, Lebanon, Lancaster, and Chester counties. This position will provide senior level leadership over the KUSBDC program.

The Center Director of the Kutztown University Small Business Development Center (KUSBDC) is responsible for planning, developing and implementing all programs and services provided across the service region, identifying resource requirements and strategies in the delivery of such programs and services; and securing and maintaining the funding necessary to operate and sustain KUSBDC and accomplish program goals and objectives. The Center Director provides leadership to the KUSBDC, working collaboratively, and with full accountability, with university, community, regional, state and federal programs, personnel and resources. The Center Director reports to the Associate Dean of the College of Business and to the State Director of the Pennsylvania Small Business Development Centers (PASBDC).

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in business related field with five to seven (5-7+) years of management experience within institutions of higher education
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in building relationships with partners and stakeholders (community, legislators, university, EDCs)
  • Experience managing government grant funded projects and working with small business ownership/business development desired
  • Experience writing and securing grants; managing grants, contracts and budgets with significant knowledge of and high degree of personal commitment to entrepreneurship, small business development, and education
  • Candidates must have the ability to work within, and across complex organizations and manage multiple relationships
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Public Speaking and business consulting experience are key

  • Small Business ownership/experience
