Job Summary


The Program Coordinator for Civic Impact supports the Center for Leadership (CFL) at the University of Colorado Boulder by providing programmatic, administrative, and logistical coordination for the Center's civic and community engagement initiatives. This position plays a key role in delivering high-quality experiences for students, community partners, and campus collaborators across multiple CFL programs.

The Coordinator works closely with CFL staff, Boulder community partners, student leaders, and campus affiliates to support program delivery, communications, events, and special projects, ensuring smooth operations and alignment with CFL's mission.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be


Civic Impact Scholars Program Coordination:
  • Overseeing the Impact Challenge and Scholars Program.
  • Implement the annual Civic Impact Challenge structure and guide students through project design, community needs assessment, and collaborative planning.
  • Develop summer and year-long internships that extend successful civic projects into sustainable, multi-year community impact partnerships.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local nonprofits, government agencies, and community groups to identify meaningful project and internship opportunities.
  • Create program timelines, budgets, and deliverables aligned with donor intent and CFL strategic priorities.
  • Oversee logistics for the annual Civic Impact Showcase, including event planning, partner engagement, and student presentation support.
  • Manage internship funding, onboarding, supervision logistics, and documentation.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and mentorship to students, helping them translate leadership theory into action and navigate real-world project implementation.
  • Track and assess project outcomes, internship progress, and community partner impact through evaluation tools (e.g., pre/post assessments, partner surveys, impact reports).
  • Prepare annual impact reports for CFL leadership and university partners.
  • Collaborate with communications and advancement teams to highlight student accomplishments and community impact.
  • Oversee recognition processes for Scholars, partners, and key contributors.

Boulder-CU Leadership Program Coordination:
  • Lead the yearly lifecycle of the Boulder-CU Leadership Program (BCLP), our flagship mentorship initiative connecting CU Boulder students with accomplished Boulder-area mentors.
  • Recruit, vet, and onboard high-impact mentors who represent diverse industries, backgrounds, and leadership experiences.
  • Recruit, select, and prepare engaged student mentees to ensure readiness, professionalism, and alignment with BCLP learning goals.
  • Design and implement high-quality program events-including orientations, kickoff gatherings, and mentor mixers.
  • Manage the Forever Buffs Network mentoring platform by maintaining accurate records, troubleshooting user issues, and optimizing features to strengthen mentorship engagement.
  • Facilitate one-to-one mentor/mentee matching, combining platform recommendations with human-centered judgment to produce meaningful, pairings.
  • Track all required student documentation (Expectations Agreements, Mid-Point Memos, Final Evaluations) and maintain organized program files for reporting and assessment.
  • Proactively support mentor and mentee relationships through consistent check-ins, conflict resolution, and thoughtful rematching when needed.
  • Monitor engagement and satisfaction metrics for all participants, including meeting frequency, goal progression, and mentoring quality scores.
  • Produce monthly newsletters and maintain a steady communication cadence to provide resources, reminders, and program updates.
  • Conduct robust program evaluation through surveys, feedback, and Mentoring Quality Scores, using findings to guide continuous improvement.
  • Lead the Super Mentor Program, pairing seasoned mentors with new mentors to strengthen mentor readiness, cultivate community among volunteers, and enhance overall mentorship quality.
  • Track and verify student completion for graduation cords, digital badges, and scholarship eligibility.
  • Maintain and regularly update mentor/mentee toolkits, training resources, and onboarding materials to ensure a high-quality, consistent participant experience.

Community Partnership Development:
  • Cultivate and sustain partnerships with community partners, including local nonprofits, government agencies, and small businesses.
  • Identify and scope real-world community challenges that fit the Scholars program's learning goals and the partner's needs.
  • Strengthen CU Boulder's civic reputation by representing the Center for Leadership at community events and leadership forums.
  • Engage in the broader leadership development ecosystem (CiviCO, International Leadership Association, etc.) to increase CFL reputation, awareness, and to use this network to recruit for CFL collaborative opportunities like the ILA Leadership Education Academy or our Coaching Certification.

Leo Hill Leadership Speaker Series:
  • Support planning, promotion, and execution of the Leo Hill Leadership Speaker Series.
  • Assist with audience outreach, VIP ticket distribution, and event communications to external community members.
  • Collaborate with the Donor Events Team to coordinate the VIP reception.
  • Assist with speaker selection in collaboration with CFL staff and the Leo Hill committee.

CFL General Support:
  • Assist with communications, including drafting content and creating social media assets.
  • Provide event staffing and coordination for CFL-wide programs.
  • Support special projects as assigned by CFL leadership.
  • Collaborate with the Advancement team to maintain strong communication with donors.
  • Contribute to donor stewardship through storytelling, event participation, and program updates.
  • Represent CFL programs during Board of Advisors meetings, public speaking engagements, and outreach.


What You Should Know

  • This is a hybrid role with a minimum of 3 days in the office.
  • This position requires regular on-campus presence with occasional evening or weekend events. The Program Coordinator will work closely with the CFL team in a collaborative and dynamic environment.


What We Can Offer


The annual starting salary range for this full-time position is $60,000 - $65,000.
