Coordinator of Clinical Experiences

Empire State University is currently seeking a Coordinator for Clinical Experiences to oversee the clinical components of its teacher preparation programs. The Coordinator for Clinical Experiences works with the Assistant Dean and other members of the Clinical Services and Licensure team to assist students and faculty. The position will serve the teacher preparation programs across the university including both undergraduate and graduate students.

The successful candidate will possess the ability to interpret and apply state regulations, and to communicate this information clearly and effectively to students, faculty, and other university stakeholders through multiple modalities, including webinars, presentations, and written correspondence. The candidate will also be responsible for cultivating and maintaining professional relationships with stakeholders across New York State to support students' clinical experiences in a variety of settings and to ensure ongoing programmatic and institutional support. This role will require consistent engagement and communication with prospective placement sites throughout the state

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Maintaining a detailed accounting of student observations to ensure timely submissions for both undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Securing and maintaining practicum and supervised fieldworks sites and providing support to students in our Applied Behavior Analysis Program.
  • Maintaining a detailed accounting of field supervisors, their locations, and workloads.
  • Assigning field supervisor workloads each semester.
  • Creating and distributing the teacher candidate observation calendar for each semester.
  • Communicating with students regularly and addressing questions and concerns related to clinical placements.
  • Assist faculty with identifying the number of field supervisors needed for content areas and assisting with the hiring process.
  • Working with Academic Program Coordinators to assign clinical observations to faculty.
  • Supporting the use of technology related to clinical supervision as appropriate (Learnscape/Watermark).
  • Creating and maintaining teacher preparation program materials including handbooks and detailed tracking documents.
  • Participating in program meetings and collaborating with other faculty and staff across programs and the university.
  • Developing and participating in webinars for both students and staff related to clinical practices and procedures.
  • Providing weekly office hours for student questions and concerns.
  • Serving as point of contact for students, faculty, and external audiences regarding clinical hours and locations, and assisting students with questions about program clinical placements and requirements.
  • Working to identify and verify supervisors per current standards and assist with recruiting and retaining qualified clinical supervisors.
  • Provide ongoing training and support for field supervisors related to standards and expectations, as well as technology.
  • Administer Critic Teacher credit voucher program.
  • Track Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) hours.
  • Participate in alumni outreach.


Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Prior experience working in Pre-K through 12 or higher education settings.
  • Ability to read and interpret SUNY and NYSED Guidelines and Regulations.
  • Excellent and effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work within a collaborative environment with diverse populations.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in education/ABA, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with NYS Certification and Licensure processes.
  • Experience working with higher education faculty and staff.
  • Experience delivering behavior analytic supervision aligned to Behavior Analyst Certification Board requirements.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).

Special Information:
  • This position is located in Saratoga Springs, NY.
  • Office hours will vary in accordance with student needs. Periodic evening engagement will also be required.
  • Occasional travel may be required to fulfill department and university-wide commitments.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. VISA sponsorship is not available for this position.

Rank/Salary: Senior Staff Assistant, SL3 / $60,00-$63,000, dependent upon experience and qualifications.
