Position Description
Key Responsibilities
ITS provides friendly, high-quality support to our community of faculty, staff, and students. We're looking for a results-driven Network Administrator with solid skills and experience to join and grow with our diverse team. This entry-level position will expose you to a wide range of network hardware, software, and support procedures within an enterprise environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist with maintaining a multi-vendor, multi-campus wired and wireless network.
- Assist with the planning, communication, execution, and testing of recurring switch OS updates.
- Lead the support of analog phone service including voice gateways, session border controllers, and various emergency phone solutions.
- Lead the support of IDF UPS units to ensure reliable network power backup.
- Support DNS, DHCP, and IP Address Management services.
- Assist with new network implementations and upgrade projects.
- Maintain inventory and documentation of hot spare equipment and return material authorizations.
- Maintain copper and fiber cable plants including minor repairs, IDF cross-connects, and review of contractor installations to ensure they are meeting our documented standards.
- Participate in scheduled after-hours network maintenance to ensure systems remain secure and up to date.
- Respond to critical support issues outside normal business hours when needed.
- Collaborate closely with IT teams and end users to resolve technical issues quickly.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field. Experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
- Minimum of 2 years hands-on LAN support experience in an environment with at least 50 managed switches, including daily connectivity, software, and hardware support.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Cisco IOS configuration and maintenance of Catalyst 3850, 4510, 4500-X or similar model access switches.
- Demonstrated knowledge of VLANs, STP, IPv4 addressing, DNS, DHCP, and SNMP.
- Experience troubleshooting wireless connectivity on Windows, Mac OS, Apple and Android mobile devices.
- Hands-on experience terminating, troubleshooting, and replacing workspace jacks with 8-conductor unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cabling
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
o Excel: formulas, data manipulation, VLOOKUP, conditional formatting
o Word: styling, tables, graphics, TOC, watermarking
o Outlook: calendar invites, tasks, contacts, auto-replies - Demonstrated ability to:
o Manage multiple tasks simultaneously
o Shift your focus from one task to another based on support needs
o Meet deadlines with attention to detail and accountability
o Work independently and collaboratively
o Communicate technical information clearly and tactfully
o Exercise sound judgment in complex situations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with analog phone service as provided by Audio Codes analog gateways, AudioCodes session border controllers, Avaya IP Office IP500 Expansion modules, Mitel, or other similar analog platforms.
- Familiarity troubleshooting and resolving analog phone line problems between the onsite PBX and the end device.
- Hands-on experience configuring, deploying, and maintaining Juniper EX-4000 and EX-4400 or similar model access switches.
- Familiarity with JunOS and Juniper QFX-5120 data center switches
- Familiarity with SolarWinds or similar network monitoring tools
- Applicable Cisco or Juniper certifications
- Applicable training courses for the technologies listed in this job posting.
- Experience with networks in higher education institutions.
- Project management experience.

Compensation at a Glance
Salary Range: $67,000 - $77,000
Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate's gender or any other protected status.

Hybrid Eligible
This position may be eligible for a hybrid schedule after successful completion of an introductory work period of 3-6 months. This may mean that a hybrid eligible role will begin on-campus initially and then will transition to hybrid format following onboarding and training. Flexible work plans are subject to periodic review and may be changed or terminated at any time for any reason at the university's discretion.
