St. Catherine University welcomes your application for an Adjunct Lecturer position for Spring 2026, starting on January 12th, 2026. Adjunct Lecturers are employed on a per-course basis, usually for no more than twelve credits per academic year. Service as an adjunct does not count toward promotion and tenure.

Adjunct lecturer in ceramics will teach a wheel class and receive an additional 2 credits of compensation to work with students on the St. Kate's Empty Bowls Project, manage the clay studio and support our Clay Club, which leads Empty Bowls.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Teaching one 4-credit ceramics course per semester, alternating between wheel throwing and hand-building, providing instruction in technical processes, safety, and creative development.
  • Overseeing day-to-day operations of the ceramics studio, including maintaining equipment, managing materials and supplies, recycling clay, loading and firing kilns, and ensuring a safe and organized workspace.
  • Leading and mentoring students in Clay Club to organize and produce the annual St. Kate's Empty Bowls event, including bowl-making workshops, coordinating ceramic production, glazing, and firing schedules while collaborating with campus and community partners.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • MA or MFA in ceramics, with a consistent record of active engagement in the discipline.
  • Broad knowledge of ceramics
  • Ability to articulate contemporary, historical and conceptual issues


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Teaching experience beyond the graduate level
  • Evidence of successful college teaching effectiveness
  • Interest in Ceramics as a vehicle for social justice
  • Strong writing, speaking, and interpersonal skills

Compensation: $7,725,.00
comprising $5,150 for the 4-credit course and $2,572 for managing the studio (equivalent to 2 credits).

The salary range listed reflects a good-faith estimate of what we reasonably anticipate to pay for this position, based on market data and internal equity, at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, and other relevant factors.
