Location
Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Job Summary
Responsible for supporting the daily operations of the university's fire and life safety program. Focuses on the inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire protection systems and life safety systems, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: -
1. Conducts routine inspections and test of fire alarm systems, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, exit signage, and other life safety equipment
2. Performs functional testing on fire suppression systems (e.g., sprinklers, standpipes, fire pumps) according to NFPA standards
3. Responsible for the basic troubleshooting and maintenance tasks on fire protection and life safety systems
4. Coordinates with external service providers for inspection, test, and repairs, ensuring timely completion and proper documentation
5. Maintains an inventory of tools, parts, and supplies needed for ongoing maintenance
6. Assists in conducting training sessions and workshops on fire extinguisher use, evacuation procedures, and general fire safety awareness
7. Responds to fire and other safety incidents on campus
8. Provides on-site support during fire alarms, building evacuations, or other emergencies
9. Aids in incident investigations, offering technical insights into system performance
10. Maintains organized records of inspections, maintenance activities, and repairs
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent
Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license
Required Experience
Two (2) years of experience in a fire and life safety field or facilities maintenance
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
NICET 1 (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) certification in fire protection, electrical, or mechanical systems
Preferred Educational Qualifications
An undergraduate or advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
Proposed Salary

ABILITIES
Able to work with people of all levels within the organization
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
KNOWLEDGE
Working knowledge of fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and other life safety equipment
Familiarity with NFPA codes and standards, as well as local fire codes and regulations
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Basic proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
