Job Description
The Barney School of Business at the University of Hartford is seeking to fill a tenure-track assistant professor position in finance beginning August 2026. Candidates are expected to teach courses in Financial Technology (FinTech), Financial Analytics, and General Finance at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, have an active research pipeline resulting in publications and presentations, as well as contribute to the service requirements of the department.
Responsibilities
The successful applicant will ordinarily teach courses in Financial Technology (FinTech), Financial Analytics, and General Finance, which may change based on departmental needs. There may also be opportunities to teach our innovative general education and interdisciplinary courses. An active scholarly/research/artistic agenda with peer-reviewed publications, presentations, or other accomplishments are expected for successful tenure and promotion. Service to the department, college, and university typically includes advising students, contributing to student recruitment and retention, and service to the profession. Required Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. in Finance, Financial Economics, or related fields from an AACSB accredited institution by August 2026
- College-level teaching experience
Preferred:
- Industry work experience
- Proficiency in Bloomberg Terminal
- Proficiency in Python
- Experience with online teaching
- Taught and advised students from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Commitment to advancing inclusive excellence and belonging in higher education.
