Job Description:
Position Purpose:
Research Assistants' (RA) activities include study recruitment; conducting structured clinical interviews; data collection using questionnaires, behavioral tasks, and collection of biomarkers (saliva, urine); organization of study binders; scoring of questionnaires; and computer entry of study data. Data collection may be done in person, remotely, or a combination. RA's are expected to work with several different populations that may include adults who consume alcohol, use cannabis, smoke cigarettes with depression, trauma, anxiety, or other psychiatric disorders who will be assessed during a standardized laboratory research protocol.
Major responsibilities include:
- Participant recruitment, screening and data collection in a laboratory setting 50%
- Data Management 15%
- Track, schedule, organize transport for and reschedule sessions as necessary during baseline and experimental phases for laboratory research. 15%
- Fund custodian 10%
- Assist with other aspects of clinical research, including literature review. 10%
Job Qualifications
Education
- Required: BA or BS in Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Psychology or related field.
Experience
- Research experience through academic training or work experience required.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills required.
- Ability to work independently is required.
- Flexibility in work schedule is required; may include evening hours.
- The RA must provide his or her own transportation to research site.
- Knowledge of experimental research methodology necessary; knowledge of clinical research procedures.
- Experience working in an experimental laboratory setting or with a psychiatric population preferred.
- Experience conducting structured clinical interviews of psychiatric disorders preferred.
- Experience in programming online surveys (e.g., Qualtrics software) is preferred
- Experience managing databases is preferred
- Coursework in addiction, substance abuse and/or psychopharmacology is preferred
- Clinical experience in screening potential research participants preferred.
- Experience working with medications preferred.
- Mature and ability to work independently is absolutely critical.
- Must be flexible with time to facilitate recruitment and maximize retention of study participants.
- Experience with managing biological samples (saliva collection, urine rapid tests) desired.
- Experience with alcohol dependent or psychiatric research participants is desired.
- Experience with alcohol- and opioid-related assessments (SCID, TLFB) a plus.
- Some IRB and FDA experience a plus.
- Phlebotomy skills a plus.
- Ability to perform EKGs a plus.

- This is a fixed term position with an end date of November 30, 2026, and may be extended based upon available funding
