Boston University's Department of Romance Studies seeks an individual with excellent communication and organizational skills to work as Senior Staff Coordinator in a collaborative and dynamic department that values diversity and inclusion, teamwork, creative initiative and the ability to work independently. The Senior Staff Coordinator is responsible for running the public-facing front office of a multilingual department with approximately 90 full-time and part-time faculty, graduate students, and staff. The Senior Staff Coordinator hires and supervises student workers in a variety of tasks; coordinates the course scheduling of our undergraduate language and literature program; assigns faculty advisors to our majors and minors in French, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish; edits a weekly newsletter; helps maintain the departmental webpage and social media; disseminates information about courses; and provides information and statistics as needed to faculty and staff. The Senior Staff Coordinator also organizes departmental events, including social occasions and Commencement. This is a full-time, 12-month position with excellent benefits, an outstanding opportunity for a versatile individual who values the study of language and culture and wishes to work closely with faculty and students.

Required Skills

Required for this position are an associate degree or B.A.; 1-3 years of experience and experience in communicating effectively and diplomatically, both orally and in writing, with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds; and the ability to find creative ways to promote the work of faculty and students and enrich the undergraduate experience for our language and literature majors.
