Position Summary
Assumes responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the Printmaking studios and other equipment of the Hartford Art School, adhering to institutional and collegiate regulations and policies as well as associated compliance guidelines in printmaking. Performs all duties in full support of the University's mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University's students.
Hiring Range
Budgeted starting hourly rate is $18.60 to $21.15, depending upon experience
Key Responsibilities
- Serves as an information resource to Hartford Art School students and faculty, assisting with and providing feedback to students regarding project completion. Maintains awareness of trends and advances in the field of printmaking. Maintains Printmaking and Painting area inventory and instructional supplies. Serves as a liaison between the faculty and Associate Dean in an effort to anticipate supply and equipment needs. Researches, recommends and purchases equipment and supplies within the constraints of an established budget as necessary and/or appropriate.
- Provides students, faculty and staff with safety awareness techniques. Trains students, faculty and staff in the safe and proper use of the Printmaking and Painting spaces and equipment as well as the safe handling and disposal of equipment and materials used in labs and studios.
- Provides regular feedback and updates to supervisors and the Dean on conditions and events within the Printmaking program. Assists other department technicians as necessary.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Works with the Facilities department and external vendors to schedule equipment and facility maintenance and to ensure proper clean-up of departmental spaces. Observes governmental safety and health standards and other associated regulations in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Enforces facility access policies.
