Job Summary

The College of Communication, Media, Design and Information encourages applications for a Vidoegrapher! This role plans, films and edits videos for prospective and current student, alumni and donor audiences. This position also creates multimedia materials in the form of original photography and audio, and curates college multimedia content for web, social media, email campaigns and electronic displays. The position also provides direction to, and collaborates with student interns and teammates, takes photos at events and classes, and assists with AV set up and filming at college events as needed. This position's work requires independent communication and organization with programs throughout the college as well as collaborating closely with other members of the communications team.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Video Creation
  • Film and edit videos for prospective and current student, alumni and donor audiences, including proposing concepts, generating scripts and completing filming and production.
  • Plan and organize video shoots to fill gaps in the college visual archive on a continuing basis.
  • Work with CMDI copy editors to create scripts and messaging for videos.
  • Take photos and provide multimedia coverage at events as needed.
  • Work on audio production for videos and podcasts.
  • Maintain video gear regularly.
  • Obtain and maintain a campus drone license.
  • Stay up-to-date with social media and video trends.
  • Coordinate with content team to generate concepts, film and edit videos for social media.
Content Curation
  • Provide multimedia content and support for the website, social media, e-mail campaigns and the online magazine.
  • Manage the storage system archive of all CMDI photo and video assets used for strategic communication purposes and work with the CMDI tech team to log archival footage.
  • Assess photo and b roll needs and arrange for new assets as needed.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for the college for curating student and faculty work to be used in digital galleries.
  • Edit and build video and audio compilations for college-wide screening events.
Technical Assistance at Events
  • Provide backup to operate AV equipment for events such as student showcases, guest lectures, conferences and symposia. Provide some post-production support.


What You Should Know

  • Hybrid work modality; generally 8 - 5 pm, M - F; some evenings and weekends occasionally required.


What We Can Offer

  • The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $64,896 annually.

What We Require

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • One year experience in filming and editing videos and creating other multimedia.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.


What You Will Need

  • Demonstrated proficiency with video production and design software such as the Adobe Suite.
  • Strong photography, video editing and interviewing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated collaboration and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, high change work environment.
