Job Summary

The Office of Undergraduate Studies invites applicants for the position of outreach coordinator with the Office of Undergraduate Research. The Office of Undergraduate Research provides undergraduate students and their research mentors with opportunities to collaborate on research and/or creative projects and is an integral part of the University of Utah's commitment to ensuring a high-quality, meaningful college experience for every undergraduate student. The outreach coordinator will work closely with the Director of the Office of Undergraduate Research, to coordinate all outreach activities for OUR.

Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities for this position are to:
Collect, create, and disseminate information to students, faculty and departments about undergraduate research opportunities at the University of Utah through classroom presentations, tabling at events, and other activities that will foster opportunities for students to learn about opportunities with OUR.
Create and implement an outreach strategic plan and implement to grow diversity in students attending OUR events and accessing opportunities.
Recruit Undergraduate Research Leaders to join the OUR team. Collaborate with student leaders regarding tabling, classroom presentations, and social media posting.
Coordinate content creation with OUR staff and supervisor to foster outreach and education activities (i.e., newsletter, social media assets, website content).
Update databases tracking related to outreach and education activities (i.e., Outreach, classroom presentations, advising, other agreed upon educational content).
Provide research coaching, also referred to as "research advising", to undergraduate
researchers and inquiring undergraduate students. Makes referrals for students who need assistance with overcoming research obstacles.
Facilitate workshops that will increase students learning about opportunities with OUR, at the U and beyond with regards to research opportunities.
Provide website updates/maintenance related to outreach activities.
Actively engage in campus-based professional development communities, including but not limited to "UAAC or other relevant campus-based organizations that advances direct skills in academic advising."
Support undergraduate research program, activities, and opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience), plus one year of directly related experience

Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions related to program content. Strong coordination and organizational skills required to prioritize conflicting deadlines. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.

Preferences
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (1 year of education is equivalent to 2 years' experience)
