Position Summary
Assumes responsibility for assisting with student engagement and programming for the Office of Jewish Life. Provides opportunities for students to celebrate, discover and experience Judaism as well as strengthen their Jewish identity through a variety of programs and initiatives. Performs all duties in full support of the University's mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of those duties are instrumental to the education of the University's students. This position is grant funded with the possibility of renewal.
Hiring Range
Starting hourly rate is $20.00 per hour to $23.00 per hour depending upon experience
Key Responsibilities
- Establishes, cultivates and maintains effective and collaborative relationships with University of Hartford Jewish students by engaging them where they live, work, and/or study, utilizing creative methods to involve them in Jewish life. Designs and implements Jewish life programming, educational and engagement initiatives and other student-oriented goals and objectives which are designed to cultivate and enhance a vibrant Jewish life on campus. Ideates and oversees programmatic activities and supervises student leaders, interns, and staff to ensure success. Plans all student leadership training including retreats, trainings, and one-on-one leadership development.
- Implements a wide range of programs including, but not limited to, Shabbat and holiday celebrations, social opportunities, social action/justice projects, guest speakers and experiential learning opportunities. Facilitates and oversees all cohort learning opportunities provided for students on a weekly basis. Oversees the process of recruiting, mentoring, and evaluating student leaders. Advises student leadership groups, paid workers, and interns in an effort to build and sustain a sense of community. Liaison between Hillel and local and international community partners through a programmatic, engagement, and leadership lens.
- Works closely with the Office of Marketing and Communications to coordinate creative promotions and marketing which include, but are not limited to, weekly emails and social media accounts. Oversees on-campus advertising and website management in an effort to ensure content adheres to University branding guidelines and standards. Manages and oversees the calendar in an effort to ensure that OJL events are posted to the University calendar in a timely and accurate manner.
- Manages various activities related to programming on campus as needed, including all aspects of event management, advertising and purchasing supplies. Oversees and supports program space reservation system both on and off campus, arranges catering and assists with room set-up.
