40Job Description:
The Academic Success Advisor serves as the primary liaison for an assigned caseload of students enrolled at CLC within a designated Field of Interest (FOI). This position is responsible for providing a personalized, holistic, and culturally responsive advising experience for each student from their first day of classes through credential attainment and career or transfer transition. Responsibilities include academic advising, transfer guidance, career exploration and planning, financial planning and referral, case management, progress monitoring, proactive outreach, support service planning and referral, and referral to student engagement opportunities. Academic Success Advisors act as partners with other college departments in their efforts to develop, implement, and provide programs and services that foster an inclusive and engaged campus community.
Summary of Essential Functions
Student & Customer Service (85%)
- Develop a personalized, holistic student success plans that address students' academic, career, transfer, financial, personal and cultural needs and goals; monitor, review, and update plans to ensure progress toward completion and transition is achieved.
- Interpret and explain college policies and procedures related to curriculum, advising, student success, retention, and credential completion.
- Maintain detailed advising summaries and semester-by-semester academic plans within the Navigate360 case management/student success software.
- Assess student needs, identify relevant college resources, and refer and connect students to identified resources.
- Collaborate with faculty in assigned Field of Interest (FOI) regarding program and career information; connect students with faculty mentors as appropriate for additional guidance and support.
- Proactively manage a caseload of students within an assigned FOI, effectively addressing their holistic advising needs; establish supportive relationships with assigned students, providing individualized coaching and ongoing guidance.
- Utilize technology to run proactive communication campaigns with assigned students; leverage data analytics to deploy outreach efforts in a more equitable and strategic manner.
- Address early alert notifications for assigned student; assist students with navigating academic challenges and staying on track with their program of study.
Project & Process Management (10%)
- Collaborate with other college departments and academic division faculty in support of advising services and development of academic, career, transfer, financial, and personal advising information, training and tools.
- Support the College's recruitment and retention efforts by way of providing presentations and workshops, staffing information tables, and engaging with students at orientation, convocation, and FYE events.
- Participate in team and division strategic planning, professional development sessions, and college-wide committees as assigned.
Other (5%)
- Provide other related functions as assigned.
This position is a temporary full-time position, expected to continue through June 30, 2026.
Pay - $52, 878/year
Work Schedule - The regular schedule is 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday - Friday, with one day out of the week scheduled from 11:00am to 7:30pm.
