Job Summary

The Associate Director of Curriculum plays a pivotal leadership role in the strategic development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the curriculum at the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine (SFESOM). This position collaborates closely with leadership, faculty, and curriculum staff to design and maintain a high-quality, compliant, and student-centered educational experience.
The Associate Director oversees daily operations, staffing, and procedural workflows within their area of focus, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and accreditation standards. They are responsible for developing and delivering training programs, analyzing course evaluations and feedback, and recommending enhancements to optimize curriculum effectiveness.
This role also includes supervising a team of curriculum staff, managing budgets, tracking faculty FTEs, and contributing to policy development. The Associate Director serves as a key liaison across departments and external partners, representing the curriculum team's interests and fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence in medical education. This position reports to the Director of Curriculum.

Responsibilities
The Associate Director of Curriculum will provide curricula support for their respective area of focus:
  • Provide support to the leadership and faculty designing the curriculum.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, procedures, and staffing.
  • Prepare and assist with reports, standard practices, and protocols necessary for effective functioning of curriculum.
  • Develop and deliver related training needs and training programs that meet the needs of curriculum staff and faculty.
  • Stay current on all internal feedback and reports for curriculum area and collaborate with leadership on program improvement initiatives.
  • Direct and supervise staff team by hiring, training, establishing goals, evaluating performance, advises and directs day-to-day functions, and provide backup.
  • Collaborate closely with other Associate Directors with other areas of focus (3 in total) to ensure consistency across phases.
  • In collaboration with SFESOM leadership, continuously develop, revise, maintain, disseminate and ensure adoption of standard practices and operating procedures.
  • Represent interests of curriculum team and area of focus in working collaboratively with other SFESOM departments and external entities to continuously improve the medical student experience.
  • Oversee budget tracking and administration of area of focus.
  • Track and communicate faculty FTE to individual and departments.
  • Participate in relevant meetings, including managing and leading.
  • Attend professional development activities, as appropriate.
  • Other responsibilities as deemed necessary.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business or Public Administration, a related area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required; plus six years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership, human relations and effective communication skills also required. Master's degree in Business Administration or related area preferred. This position is not responsible for providing patient care. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
