Reporting to the Director, Talent Operations the Faculty Compensation Administrator is responsible for managing the complex process of faculty compensation, focusing on the intricate relationship between faculty load assignments, teaching responsibilities, and corresponding pay structures. Work is generally diversified requiring judgment, analysis and decision-making according to established practices and procedures. Supervision received is general. Daily responsibilities are completed independently using established policies and general objectives with interaction with supervisor limited to problems or unusual conditions.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities


  • Compensation Calculation and Management: Develops and maintains comprehensive understanding of faculty compensation models. Identifies and utilizes data including instructional load assignments, credit hours, course types, overload and additional assignments to calculate compensation for faculty. Will additionally monitor non- instructional assignments for payment and develop the standardized compensation framework for these assignments. Ensures consistent and equitable compensation and reconciling discrepancies in faculty load and compensation calculations.
  • Job Market Analysis and Salary Review: Will conduct periodic market research and analysis of faculty compensation. Utilizes market based pay structures to perform comprehensive salary reviews. Research and benchmark faculty salaries against similar educational institutions, regional market data, and national education compensation trends. Develops and recommends salaries based on market data findings, and analyzes comp ratio and internal equity. Prepares and provides detailed reports regarding compensation competitiveness.
  • Load Assignment Analysis: Reviews and validates faculty teaching loads across all academic departments. Interpret and analyze complex faculty assignment structures and the relationships between contact hours, preparation time, instructional delivery methods, departmental variations in course assignments and non-instructional responsibilities. Work directly with scheduling and Deans to resolve any issues.
  • Payroll and Compensation Systems: Responsible for maintaining and updating faculty compensation databases. Ensures accurate data entry and tracking of faculty assignments. Coordinates with the payroll department to implement compensation calculations. Develop and maintain reporting mechanisms for faculty compensation analysis including the ability to create and run ad hoc reports. Track and manage compensation for diverse faculty assignments.
  • Compliance and Documentation: Ensures compliance with institutional policies, collective bargaining agreements, state and federal employment regulations. Maintain detailed documentation of compensation calculations. Prepare comprehensive reports on faculty compensation structures. Develop guidelines for alternative compensation arrangements. Work with faculty credentialing and serve on the CTE committee to strength compliance requirements.
  • Collaborative Teamwork: Establishes, maintains, and enhances positive work relationships with academic deans, department chairs, human resources, payroll department and other staff, faculty, and administrators. Provide guidance on compensation-related inquiries. Assists in interpreting complex compensation scenarios. Collaborates on developing comprehensive compensation strategies.
  • Continuous Learning & Professional Development: Maintains current knowledge of best practices and standards in higher education with an emphasis on community Colleges. Actively organizes and/or participates in applicable workgroups, trainings, workshops, seminars, committees and professional associations or conferences to promote continuous learning.
  • Other duties: Perform other related duties within the scope of the position as required for the efficient operation of the division and to support institutional objectives.


Qualifications

Compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards/requirements, as well as all MATC policies and procedures.

Required Education & Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field with 3 - 5 years of experience in compensation administration. Expertise in market-based compensation analysis Or a Masters degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field with 2 - 3 years of experience. A deep understanding of higher education compensation structures and/or faculty load calculations and scheduling functions is preferred. Expertise in market-based compensation analysis. Experience working in a union environment preferred.

Supplemental Information


Start Date
This position supports the Talent Operations department in the Human Resources Division with a start date of August 4, 2025. This position will be based out of the Downtown Campus.


Hours: This position requires 40 hours per week. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, between 8:00am - 4:30pm. A hybrid work schedule may be available, after the completion of training and/or probationary period with managerial approval.
