Pay Range: $16.22 - $18.21 hourly. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications.

Summary
Under the supervision of the Pastry Sous Chef, the Baker prepares large batch recipes of various pastries and baked goods using weighted measurements. Maintains food preparation and safety standards and comply with applicable laws, and State and University policies/procedures. The Baker will prepare pastries and baked goods for all DHS locations, including the Residential Dining Halls, Catering, and Retail outlets. The Baker is expected to be knowledgeable in efficient use of supplies, equipment, and services in a sanitary and safe environment according to UCCS Dining and Hospitality Services specifications.
Essential Functions
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare large batch recipes of various pastries and baked goods using weighted measurements.
- Assist in training student staff to prepare the proper recipe, portion, and technique of all baked goods and pastries.
- Follow proper baking, storage, and food handling techniques.
- Complete and supervise training on all pieces of equipment prior to use.
- Assemble, disassemble, and clean bakery equipment.
- Assist in all phases of set up, service, and clean up in operation as needed.
- May assist in storeroom duties such as receiving orders, rotating stock, and counting inventory.
Qualifications
- Foundational knowledge in pastry and baked goods preparation is required.
- A valid ServSafe and/or AllerTrain certification is preferred.
