In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.

Job Summary
It is the Primary Purpose of the Teaching Assistant (TA) at COMP & COMP-NW to provide 1st-year Osteopathic Medical Students (OMSI) with the assistance and tools necessary to succeed during the 1st year of curriculum at WesternU/COMP. Topics may include but are not limited to Osteopathic Principles & Practices, Family Medicine, Anatomy, Basic Sciences, etc.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that he/she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
1. Sound knowledge of designated curriculum content as demonstrated by scores on cognitive and practical exams as designated by the respective Department Chair(s)
2. Good verbal and written communication skills to be able to interact with faculty, staff and students
3. Working knowledge of related scientific terminology.

Required Qualifications
1. EDUCATION: Currently enrolled in the one of the Medical Programs at Western University of Health Sciences and be in good academic and professional standing.
2. EXPERIENCE: Must have basic tutoring/teaching/mentoring/facilitating experience or successfully passed a graduate level course in the material in which you wish to TA or receive approval from the Chair of the Dept you wish to participate in.
