The Associate Director of Development (ADD) reports to the Digital Creative Director, Interactive Design and works collaboratively with the Director on recommending and executing the work of the Development team to best meet University client needs for website design projects.
This role works not only as the Development team's manager but also as the developer-centric liaison between project managers, interactive designers, and account executives on the agency's project portfolio. Collaborates with the team on project direction and directly assists on large- and small-scale website development on a per-project basis. The ADD also serves as a partner with Information Services & Technology staff on joint initiatives.
This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement and working remotely may be an option, although occasional travel to the Boston office may be required.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree with 5-8 years of related experience, including 3+ years of management experience, or a Master's degree with 3-5 years of related work and management experience.
- The incumbent must be able to work with and motivate staff, team members, and clients.
- The individual must have strong presentation skills and possess the ability to articulate complex technology principles and ideas to audiences and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and a track record of follow-through on tasks and goals are necessary.
- The ideal candidate must also be a self-starter and seek to initiate change and advancement within the department.
Preferred experience includes:
- Experience working and releasing code to open-source communities.
- Experience with MV* frameworks.
- Knowledge of Wordpress block editor development.
- Experience with AWS or other cloud computing platforms.
- Experience with other frontend technologies or designing plugins.
- Experience producing unit testing and QA plans.
- Familiar with development and deployment automation.
- Understanding of test-driven development.
