Instructional Technologist
Job Summary
Supports the implementation, integration, and effective use of educational technologies to enhance teaching and learning. Collaborates with faculty and instructional designers to build course content and integrate instructional tools that support the development and delivery of online and hybrid courses. Provides assistance and technical support during course delivery to ensure a smooth learning experience. Trains faculty and staff in the effective use of instructional technologies.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with faculty and instructional designers to write, develop, edit, and review quality of course content; build and maintain course materials in Canvas and related instructional tools
- Update and improve existing courses in preparation for upcoming semesters, ensuring functionality, accuracy, and consistency
- Provide support to faculty and programs during course delivery by addressing technical issues
- Support Canvas Changes and instructional technology integrations in coordination with instructional designers and IT staff
- Train faculty and staff in the effective use of instructional technologies through workshops, consultations, and troubleshooting
- Develop and maintain clear, accessible user guides, training materials, and knowledge base documentation
- Research, recommend, and pilot emerging educational technologies to enhance teaching and learning
- Ensure instructional platforms, tools, and course content comply with institutional policies, accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG), and data privacy regulations
- Stay current with trends in educational technology, LMS platforms, and digital learning innovations
- Contribute to the success of the Eccles School by demonstrating professionalism, enthusiasm, and competency in both written and face-to-face communication

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Instructional Technology or related field, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). 2-4 years experience in instructional technology, preferably in an online education environment required. Knowledge of learning theory with the ability to apply the theory into practice; excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills; familiarity with a variety of software, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, Dreamweaver, Microsoft Office, and DVD Authoring tools; strong editing skills; ability to work both individually and in a team setting.
Master's degree in a related field may be preferred.
