Under the direction of the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), the Staff Therapist will provide clinical, consultative, supervisory, and educational services that will contribute to student success, persistence, and retention.The Staff Therapist will provide intake and clinical assessment, and individual, couples, and group psychotherapy to our diverse College of Lake County student population. In addition, the Staff Therapist will provide clinical consultation and crisis intervention on an as-needed basis. This candidate will refer students to community resources for longer-term treatment and collaborate with ongoing treatment providers for continuity of care. The successful applicant will demonstrate personal and professional commitment to multicultural competence and inclusion, in all aspects of the position.
Although this position is administratively supervised, the Staff Therapist will possess highly effective problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise discretion and good judgment in making independent decisions. The successful applicant will participate in departmental efforts to evaluate and continuously improve the provision of services.
Additionally, the successful incumbent will design and implement psychoeducational programs and provide consultation to the campus community. As the CAPS training program builds, this candidate will support the clinical training of graduate students in social work, psychology, and/or counseling. It is expected that the Staff Therapist will be involved in College-level endeavors such as committees and taskforces, as well as serve as a liaison to other campus departments. The candidate will also take an active role in the growth and management of group therapy program with the CAPS Department.
This is a full-time, 12 month position and is eligible for College of Lake County benefits such as health insurance, retirement, and paid holidays and vacation time. Required Qualification(s):
1. Earned MSW, M.S., M.Ed., or other relevant degree.
2. Licensed to provide psychotherapy in Illinois.
3. Must have an LCPC or LCSW license.
4. Experience successfully providing psychotherapy to young adults.
5. Experience successfully designing and facilitating educational programs an workshops.
6. Commitment to multicultural competence and humility.
7. Ability to work some night and weekend hours.
8. High level of interpersonal skill.
9. Highly effective verbal and written communication skills.
10. Proven ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities; demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Desired Qualification(s):
1. Experience providing clinical services to a college population
2. Experience providing clinical supervision
3. Bilingual (English with Spanish, Polish and/or Russian preferred)
4. Experience working with an electronic records system (e.g., Titanium)
Salary: ($63,731-$69,130) The salary offer in this range will be based on education and experience.
