Job Summary:

The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for providing outstanding customer service to both the assigned physician and patients. The individual in this position will perform a broad spectrum of duties related to the effective and efficient scheduling of patients for outpatient visits and procedures. This includes maintaining precise interactions with nurses, physicians, and any other departments or functions involved in the delivery of patient care services.

This role will communicate with physicians and other healthcare team members to ensure the availability of facilities and staff. The individual in this position will function as the liaison between the patient and the providers for all non-clinical issues, including scheduling procedures in both the minor procedure room and operating rooms, communicating pre-procedure instructions and appointment confirmations, insurance verifications, and/or pre-authorizations as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule patient visits, including completing data entry in Epic and preparing all necessary documentation within the medical record for the physician to review.
  • Determine if there will be any insurance pre-authorization needed, and mail information packets to patients as necessary.
  • Obtain referrals and authorizations as necessary for all clinic patient encounters, procedures, and surgeries.
  • Preauthorize procedures and surgeries.
  • Triage new patient referrals (fax and phone); email out new patient information.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Denver, Colorado.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1- 2 years of patient registration and insurance processes.

A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • College graduate.
  • 3+ years of patient/client-facing experience.
  • Medical office experience.
  • EPIC experience.
  • MS Office experience.
  • Bilingual, Spanish-speaking.
  • Understanding of HIPAA practices and patient confidentiality.

Conditions of Employment:
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, healthcare provider level CPR certification, or certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Must be able to work in person.
  • Must be able to travel to alternate locations as assigned.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $43,700.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
