Job Summary:
The Division of Surgical Oncology in the Department of Surgery at the University of Colorado Denver is seeking a Senior Research Scientist with a doctorate in Medicine, Epidemiology, Health-related Data Science, or a closely related field. The ideal candidate will have research interests focused on clinical outcomes, particularly longitudinal data analysis and population-oriented interventions.
The position will help supervise the research projects of laboratory members, including graduate students, medical students, research residents, postdoctoral fellows, and visiting researchers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a complex collection of research and clinical databases for quality improvement, research, and audit processes.
- Develop, conduct, and supervise clinical research projects in the Division of Surgical Oncology.
- Interpret data, perform statistical and data analysis of large population datasets, and provide guidance on study design, execution, and analysis.
- Collaborate with researchers from other academic units (divisions, departments, and external institutions) to coordinate existing or new research opportunities.
- Create and assist with drafting and submitting local, national, and international grants (including but not limited to NIH and DOD) in areas such as clinical outcomes in oncological care, oncological treatment access and barriers, community outreach programs, new cancer therapeutics development and implementation, and other research areas based on demand.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- Doctoral Degree in Medicine, Epidemiology, Health-related data science, or related fields.
- At least three years of experience working in an academic medical or research facility.
- A demonstrated record of publications and teaching.
- Experience in team management, including a leadership role in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Extensive experience and proficiency in STATA (or equivalents), R programming, and NCI-related software.
- Knowledge of survival analysis, multivariable modeling, longitudinal data analysis, and causal inference.
- Strong interest and experience in multi-group/multi-institutional research-related efforts.
- Experience conducting epidemiological research and working with large or complex datasets.
- Proven success as a collaborative leader, working with multiple researchers and staff on diverse projects

- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong independent judgment and ability to work self-directed.
- Excellent scientific and technical writing skills.
- Effective attention to detail, which is critical for this position.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:
$86,364 to $118,577
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
