Position Summary
The School of Humanities, Education, Justice, and Social Sciences at Lasell University is seeking a diverse pool of part-time faculty to teach courses in ethics, social philosophy, philosophy of technology, and applied ethics. We are looking for people that can offer a global or comparative philosophical perspective. Ultimately, we are a teaching focused institution, and all course offerings emphasize practical applications of philosophical thinking to contemporary challenges. Many of the opportunities to teach with us include co-teaching with a mentor or coordinator with a shared curriculum in a collaborative and team-focused environment.

Responsibilities:

Deliver engaging instruction that connects philosophical concepts to real-world applications
Design and assess coursework that meets program learning outcomes and university curriculum standards
Utilize Canvas learning management system to enhance course delivery
Maintain regular availability for student consultation
Provide thorough and timely feedback on student work
Track and evaluate student progress throughout the semester
Meeting semi-regularly (about once every month) with a course coordinator, team, or mentor (again, because most of our courses employ a co-teaching or shared curricular model).

MA or PhD in Philosophy or related field (PhD preferred)
Evidence of Strong Teaching Practices; we work to align our practices with Universal Design for Learning Principles.
Demonstrated ability to make philosophical concepts accessible and relevant to undergraduate students
Strong communication skills and commitment to student mentorship
Experience with online learning platforms preferred
Willingness and interest in working in a collaborative team of scholars and practitioners to deliver transformative course experiences.
