About the Opportunity
JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director for Student Life Operations helps manage the daily operations of Student Life Residential Security, Husky Card Services, and Technical Support for Northeastern's Oakland Campus. The primary focus will be on overseeing and coordinating activities related to Husky Card Services, Residential Security, and the technical needs of the Student Life Division. The Assistant Director will ensure the smooth functioning of these services, including implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of various operational and technical processes while delivering exceptional customer service and technical support.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Assist in maintaining a secure living environment for students residing in on-campus housing; uses judgement to assess and address potential security concerns in the moment.
- Collaborate with Residential Security staff to coordinate access control systems, monitor security cameras, and respond to security-related incidents.
- Provide technical support for electronic locking systems, security alarms, and surveillance equipment.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify potential security vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate improvements.
- Provide support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, vending and laundry readers, and field support for other software and hardware devices.
- Offer hardware and software support for all technology resources used in Student Life.
- Provide in-person, remote, and telephone support for computer hardware, software, and peripheral devices used in Student Affairs, including installation, troubleshooting, backups, re-imaging, and permissions management.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for inquiries and concerns related to Husky Card Services and Residential Security, delivering excellent customer service in person, over the phone, and via email.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to card access, security systems, and software applications, escalating complex problems to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist in implementing new technologies, software upgrades, and system integrations. Develop and maintain procedural documentation, user guides, and training materials for card services and security operations
- Recruit, train and schedule student employees supporting operational needs
- Manage the issuance and distribution of Husky Cards to students, faculty, and staff, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established guidelines.
- Collaborate with various departments to facilitate card access for designated areas, such as residence halls, classrooms, libraries, and recreational facilities.
- Coordinate card replacement and troubleshooting procedures, resolving issues efficiently and effectively.
- Maintain and update the database of cardholders, ensuring accurate records and confidentiality.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of access control systems, security protocols, and surveillance equipment.
- Ability to assess the impact and feasibility of new technologies, software upgrades, and system integrations with existing systems and processes.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Familiarity with databases, data management, and reporting tools. Understanding of student privacy laws and regulations (FERPA) is a plus.
- Knowledge and skills required for this job are often obtained through a bachelor's degree (or equivalent preparation and training) plus at least 1-3 years of technical related experience in computer hardware and software support, preferably in an educational or institutional setting.
The expected hiring range is $58,100 to $74,075. Within the expected hiring range, the starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role. The expected hiring ranges are taken from the full salary ranges, which are reviewed each year and are subject to change.
