Job Summary

The Communications and Marketing Manager at Georgia Southern University is responsible for strategic communication and marketing efforts to audiences including current students, prospective students, faculty, alumni and key community members. This position will work with select academic colleges at Georgia Southern University and with the University's communications and marketing office to integrate college efforts with the University's communications and marketing strategy. This position will oversee the efforts of the Marketing and Communications Officers to help meet the goals of marketing and communications efforts for the University's ten academic colleges. The Communications and Marketing Manager will be an integral member of the University's communications team. They will create compelling content to effectively tell the Georgia Southern story in engaging and broad-reaching ways, raising visibility and reputation as a college. The incumbent demonstrates a steadfast commitment to embodying core values of service, collaboration, and excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the coordination of University-level efforts to share important academic successes, research, student highlights, and news.
  • In conjuction with University-level efforts, assist with campaigns across various media platforms, including digital, print, web, video, mass media and college social media.
  • Support efforts to increase student enrollment and engagement for the colleges and degree programs.
  • Coordinate marketing and communication projects for the colleges and work with University-level marketing and communications on initiatives and execution.


Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
  • Undergrad degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Communication Arts or related degree

Other Required Qualifications
  • Must possess an understanding of marketing and communications mediums with the ability to plan, manage, produce and direct comprehensive strategies that incorporate print, digital and video communication to support brand messaging
  • Must have experience executing multi-faceted communications campaigns to internal and external audiences
  • Demonstrated proficiency working with major social media channels, including Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube
  • Demonstrated proficiency working with social media monitoring and analytics tactics, tools and data
  • Demonstrated creativity, invention, imagination, originality, and talent in branding, digital marketing, message development, and strategic marketing

Required Experience
  • Four (4) years of experience in related field

  • Graduate degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Communication Arts or related degree


Proposed Salary

$68,000

This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.

  • Demonstrated public relations writing, copywriting and editing skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy and a knowledge of AP Style

SKILLS
  • Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders
  • Budget management experience
  • Strong project management skills
