The Exercise and Sport Science Program at St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Assistant Professor position on a 9-month professional practice contract. This is an on-campus, in-person, position.
This faculty member will teach the equivalent of six courses a year. Most of these courses will be within the College for Women (CfW) in Exercise and Sport Science and may include Introduction to Exercise and Sport Science; Motor Learning and Motor Control; Fitness and Wellness; and Kinesiology and Biomechanics (with lab). Depending on faculty qualifications, there could be opportunities for other course assignments, including within other disciplines.
Additionally, this faculty member will help lead strategic efforts to revitalize a Healthcare Exploration Mentorship program that aims to provide undergraduate students with experiences to aid them in identifying a meaningful healthcare career. As such, this faculty member must develop a deep understanding of different career pathways and requirements.
Exercise and Sport Science is routinely one of the largest CFW majors and provides several degree options for students. These include pathways into several graduate programs at St. Kate's, including the Doctor of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Programs. The program is part of the Henrietta Schmoll School of Health Sciences (HSSHS). With 18 degree programs and approximately 100 faculty, the HSSHS is the largest of St. Kate's four schools. Degrees are offered to students at all levels, from the associate to the doctoral level. A key distinguishing factor is the programs' shared focus on ecological approaches to health, intercultural competency, and interprofessional collaboration. Faculty and staff will find ample opportunities for support for teaching, professional practice, and scholarly activities. The Institute of Simulation and Interprofessional Learning (I-SAIL) provides resources and expertise to support developing and implementing high-impact educational activities within HSSHS and the School of Nursing. The St. Kate's Teaching Hub offers resources and a platform for teaching and scholarly activities that foster pedagogical innovation and student success. The Hub supports faculty and staff by providing professional development opportunities and a forum for learning and exchange on issues at the forefront of higher education.
Responsibilities include:
- Teaching undergraduate exercise and sport science courses
- Leading the Healthcare Exploration Mentorship program
- Advising students
- Engaging in activities that help to bring a professional orientation to the curriculum
- Engaging in service to the Exercise and Sport Science Program, the school, university, and external organizations
Salary range: $59,000 - $63,000

The salary range listed reflects a good-faith estimate of what we reasonably anticipate to pay for this position, based on market data and internal equity, at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, and other relevant factors. St. Catherine reserves the right to modify or adjust compensation depending on University needs.

Minimum Qualifications:
- An earned master's degree in Exercise and Sport Science or related field
Preferred Qualifications:
- A doctoral degree in Exercise and Sport Science or related field
- Expertise in biomechanics or motor learning and control
- Experience teaching at the undergraduate level
- Relevant professional certifications or experience
