Job Summary

The Office of Undergraduate Education at CU Boulder encourages applications for an on-call Academic Advisor, located in Ralphie's Advising Help Lab! This part-time on-call generalist academic advisor position supports all the academic advising and advising-adjacent activities at Ralphie's Advising Help Lab. This role is responsible for building relationships with undergraduate students and fostering success by providing generalist multidisciplinary academic and developmental advising for all units and interests across all colleges and schools at CU Boulder. The generalist advising role works with all student populations across campus to empower and support them in exploration, decision-making, and working toward their choice of a major and an outline of goals for their undergraduate career at CU-Boulder and beyond. This position plays an active role as part of a collaborative, innovative, and welcoming team within Ralphie's Advising Help Lab. The incumbent follows all advising protocols and utilizes campus advising tools such as Buff Portal Advising, Campus Solutions, DARS, ONBase, and maintains a current and interdisciplinary knowledge base of all undergraduate academic and co-curricular opportunities.

Who We Are

The Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE) is a campus office reporting to the Provost. Its charge is to examine the entire undergraduate student experience, assess outcomes, identify gaps, and launch and support student-facing campus initiatives. Current key projects in OUE include a focus on first-year academic programs with the development of First Year Seminars; the coordination of undergraduate academic policies; the development of a coordinated campus advising structure; and the coordination and assessment of campus retention and persistence initiatives. We are currently working on a two-year initiative, Foundations of Excellence, which is focused on optimizing the first-year experience of our undergraduates.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Host On Campus individual and small group advising work with students via scheduled appointments, drop-ins and email interactions.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities IN PERSON.
  • Projects include proactive outreach and engagement with students who have not met with an academic advisor.

  • This is a part-time on-call seasonal position.

What We Require

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • One year professional advising/coaching or related experience in higher education.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.

  • Expansive understanding of campus-wide student supports.
  • Expert user of Buff Portal Advising, Campus Solutions, OnBase, DARS, and other CU-specific software.
  • Demonstrated student-centered ethic of care that can be proven through their work with undergraduate students.

  • Excellent communication skills.
