Job Title: Temporary Researcher
This is a Temporary position limited to no more than 12-months. This position is part-time and limited to no more than an average of 30 hours a week in a twelve-month period.
Job Summary:
Nature of Work
The Dwork laboratory at CU Anschutz focuses on improving the reliability and quality of Magnetic Resonance Imaging when imaging infants, neonates, and fetuses. This 12 month temp position will assist us with these efforts. The person who fills this role will develop and evaluate novel methods in combination with existing methods for MR image reconstruction and quantitation using deep learning and physics-based systems. Development will occur in Python, Matlab, and C programming languages and involves Fourier analysis, linear algebra, convex optimization, and machine learning.
12 month temp duties are limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals and are performed in a training and development capacity.
Supervision Received: This role will report directly to the lab PI, Nick Dwork, PhD
Duties:
- Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators (PI) and other stakeholders in the areas of image reconstruction, image processing, computer vision, and data analysis
- Develop and apply statistical/machine learning methods and related software related to imaging
- Perform scientifically rigorous data management and statistical analyses
- Develop and disseminate a variety of tools designed to access relevant clinical and sample data
- Submit papers summarizing methods and findings to peer-reviewed journals
- Present scientific findings at scientific conferences and stakeholder meetings

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Minimum Qualifications
- Masters's degree in Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field
- A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis
- Experience with MRI and other imaging applications and/or modalities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with deep learning in Python using Pytorch
- Experience with Matlab and/or C
Competencies: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of basic principles relevant in imaging research
- Ability to analyze and solve complex problems and apply quantitative analytical approaches
- Demonstrated fluency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Matlab, C) and willingness to learn new programming languages as necessary
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion
- Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology medical terminology
- Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information

Anticipated Pay Range:
The hiring rate for this position has been established at $24.00 / hour. The above salary rate represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate at the time of posting.
