Job Summary:

In 2013 the State of Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS), selected the Kempe Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect to serve as the Central Management Organization (CMO) for Colorado's Child Welfare Training System (CWTS). The mission of the CWTS is to provide strengths-based, family-focused, child-centered, culturally responsive, competency-driven learning opportunities for Colorado's child welfare workforce, by delivering a multitude of learning experiences, covering specialized topics for caseworkers, supervisors, case aides, foster parents, and other child and family serving personnel.

As part of the CWTS at Kempe, the Bilingual Learner Specialist provides primary oversight for the learning needs and successful navigation of our Spanish-speaking community in the learning management system (LMS), ensuring that navigational pathways, job aids, and communication are properly translated and prominently displayed. The Bilingual Learner Specialist ensures successful learning delivery by providing support and coordination to all CWTS's internal and external customers before, during, and after training, providing additional verbal or written support to Spanish-speaking learners as needed. This includes planning, organizing, and executing all training-related logistics.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement the existing formal development process to translate and distribute high-quality learner aids that guide navigation through the LMS from account registration to annual recertification for our Spanish-speaking learning community
  • Partner with the Learner System Specialist and the Writing and Communications Specialist to identify the needs of our Spanish-speaking learners in the LMS and on the website and assist with the implementation of solutions
  • Collaborate with team, end users, and third-party LMS vendor to determine, prioritize, problem solve, and execute LMS bilingual functionality to better serve our diverse community of learners
  • Monitor high-volume tickets to the support desk, respond to tickets in both English and Spanish and maintain accurate documentation
  • Schedule, adjust, and track delivery requests in the LMS, provide technical assistance as needed in both English and Spanish to learning deliveries, and offer CQI and program support for events and meetings
  • Meet with Spanish-speaking learners to assist with learning needs
  • Translate communication from English to Spanish for public-facing communication channels such as the website, help desk, job aids, and learning management system
  • Troubleshoot issues and implement solutions to CQI within the LMS
