Job Summary

The WAVES antenna instrument onboard the STEREO A&B spacecraft collected a large amount of transient signals from dust impacts. The successful candidate will analyze such date to determine the basic parameters of the impacting particles, including their mass, and approximate orbital parameters.

LASP at the University of Colorado Boulder is one of the largest research institutes at the University of Colorado Boulder. With a focus on solar, stellar, space plasma, atmospheric and planetary sciences, LASP employs both experimental and theoretical approaches to answer key science questions. Since its inception in 1948, LASP has developed, operated, and analyzed the data from scientific instrumentation for solar science, Earth atmospheric, planetary, deep-space, and Earth-orbiting spacecraft missions investigating the Sun, all eight planets, Pluto, and beyond. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

The key responsibility will be developing the codes for the S/WAVES dust impact data analysis. This includes implementing an existing analytical model and then using the code to analyze individual dust impact signals.

$17.50-$25.00 an hour.
Paid Sick Leave.

What We Require

Junior or senior undergraduate or MS students pursuing a degree in physics, astrophysics, aerospace engineering, or similar areas.
