Job Description:
This role oversees all philanthropic relationships with external corporate entities for the university and facilitates corporate engagement strategy, identifying, fostering and expanding philanthropic partnerships with businesses and industry leaders to advance the University's mission and goals. They oversee the development, implementation, and coordination of corporate philanthropy initiatives among the university's many stakeholders, aiming to enhance funding opportunities, drive innovation, and create mutually beneficial collaborations that support academic, athletic, research, and community outreach objectives. The role pursues new philanthropic corporate partnerships and facilitates interactions and solicitations by campus units aligned with well-established corporate interests at the university. The position manages a portfolio of complex and diverse corporate prospects and provides stewardship to promote long-term relationships.
They work closely with the Assoc. VP for Economic and Business Development, the Exec Governance Council and unit colleagues to provide a single point of accountability for all corporate philanthropy. They oversee staff providing strategic guidance on process, approaches, and cultivation and solicitation of corporate prospects for gifts and management of corporate accounts.

- Serve as the single focal point for the philanthropic needs of university corporate partners and facilitate the necessary connections on campus to maximize partner benefits.
- Facilitate strategy meetings with campus units and leaders and ensure that corporate partners move along a continuum of engagement to broaden and deepen philanthropic relationships and generate resources for the University. These campus connections include Academic Affairs, Athletics, the Office of Research, Student Experience, and the Institute for Veterans and Military Families, all represented on the Executive Governance Council for Corporate Relations.
- Manage and maintain comprehensive moves management and solicitation plans for corporate prospects and ensure the information infrastructure needed to support this work is timely and accurate.
- Collaborate successfully with schools, colleges, and corporate relations staff across the Syracuse University schools, colleges and units to translate academic, athletic, and veteran programs and projects into a holistic catalogue of opportunities for corporate support related to talent, research, continuing/executive education and business and vendor relationships.
- Manage a dynamic portfolio of 25 - 30 key corporate prospects and secure new levels of institutional support and engagement through grants, sponsored research, recruitment, philanthropy, curriculum support, corporate executive participation, in-kind support, joint approaches to funding sources, etc.
- Manage performance metrics and priorities for corporate philanthropy team providing guidance on industry focus, cultivation and solicitation strategies and donor processes capable of producing new corporate gifts, grants, student support, talent pipeline, diversity support, as well as research, while ensuring accurate and timely updates to data management tracking systems.
- Utilize database of record (CITRUS) to update strategic plans and opportunities, interactions, outcomes and next steps.
- Contribute to research and accuracy of corporate / alumni records.
- Coordinate with the Associate Vice President of Economic and Business Development to manage logistics and support the leadership and guidance of the Executive Governance Council for Corporate Relations.
- Cultivate strong relationships with members of the Executive Governance Council to ensure a coordinated and consistent approach to corporate relations activity across campus.
