Position Description
Designs, implements and manages an assigned program. Typical duties can include but are not limited to: Identify funding opportunities, conduct program assessments, prepare program reports, oversee and manage program marketing and communications, manage program databases, supervise program staff, plan research activities, coordinate program events, participate in strategic planning, manage program files, establish program standards and objectives, direct logistical activities to promote the success of programs, develop and implement project timelines and ensures deadlines are met, oversee program budget, ensure goals and objectives of grants are met, assists in proposal writing, comply and analyze program statistics.
Major/Essential Functions
- Oversees the Mentor and Mentee Matching Process and executes the onboarding experience and communication efforts for new and returning Mentors and Mentees.
- Leads the development, planning, coordination, and facilitation of special events including, but not limited to: program orientation, mentor and mentee meet & greets, Mentor Tech signature events, student success activities, and other program events within Mentor Tech.
- Provides support for existing and new programs from the initiative, refers students to be involved, and expand initiative efforts.
- Participates in professional development opportunities and expands knowledge around collegiate mentoring.
- Oversees the day-to-day communication functions of Mentor Tech, including coordinating office coverage, monitoring incoming calls, and maintaining the departmental inbox.
- Hires, trains, supervises, & develops assigned student assistants and student volunteers and oversees the planning, development, and facilitation of continued professional development, including fall and spring training.
- Leads the outreach and engagement efforts for Mentor Tech to increase Mentor and Mentee participation, including university tabling, marketing efforts, and email campaign development.
- Assist with preparation and implementation of Student Engagement programs like Hub City Fest, Raider Roundup, Texas Techspo, etc.
- Responsible for all aspects of the Tech Leadership Institute; including developing curriculum, recruiting participants, and implementing the program.
- Works closely with other Student Engagement staff to identify opportunities for collaboration.
- Generalist duties and responsibilities associated with Student Engagement are also expected. This
- includes serving University or departmental committees as assigned and participating in regional/national conferences as requested.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and four years of experience developing or managing programs or projects. Additional job related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
The diverse nature of this position requires a professional with knowledge of and/or experience with student development programs on a college campus. Master's degree in higher education, student personnel/student affairs or related fields preferred.
