Assistant Professor - Department of Educational Studies

The Position

The Department of Educational Studies seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level.

Effective Date: January 1, 2025

Duties of the Position

The Department of Educational Studies at the University of Tennessee at Martin seeks candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position for curriculum and instruction for middle and secondary education. Duties for the position include teaching a 12-hour semester load of face-to-face courses at the UTM Campus. Online course opportunities may be available. Responsibilities will include directorship of the UTM Call Me MiSTER Program which is a teacher leadership program that strives to increase the pool of available teachers from a more diverse background. Additional responsibilities will include academic advising, mentoring student research, supervision and observation of practicums and field work, community outreach, service to the department and university, and establishing a record of scholarship, and professional service. Knowledge and expertise in edTPA preferred. Experience supervising teacher candidates in the field (Student Teaching) and teaching at the college or university level preferred. Graduate hours or experience/endorsements in secondary education, multiculturalism and diversity, and math/science education preferred.

Professional Qualifications

An earned doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction or related area is required. Documented evidence of an ABD will be considered. The successful candidate will have at least 2 years of experience teaching in a middle/secondary education environment. Evidence of scholarship (publications, presentations, and/or grants) is preferred.
