Job Summary: Assist the head baseball coach with all aspects of a comprehensive, highly competitive college mens baseball program. Assist with the organization and management as it relates to scheduling, scouting, travel arrangements, and monitoring student-athletes. Effectively and efficiently maintain the grounds and facilities on and around the SLCC Baseball Diamond (Cate Field) according to baseball facility standards, campus beautification, and safety standards throughout all seasons.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties: Under immediate supervision, performs standard tasks using established methods, principles, concepts, and procedures related to professional and managerial issues specific to an assistant coach. Judgments are made on routine matters of relatively small impact. Acts in consultancy capacity with the Head Coach.

Under the direction of the head coach, assist in practice organization, scheduling, scouting, team supervision, on-field coaching team/recruits, travel arrangements; consultation, and monitoring of student-athletes. Be responsible for player's development and individual work sessions during practice. Assist in recruiting of new SA within the philosophies and guidelines of NJCAA, SLCC, and Athletic Department

Coordinate and assist in developing/administering successful baseball camps at SLCC. Other duties may be assigned by the head baseball coach to develop, and coordinate a total baseball program.

Represent SLCC in a professional, ethical manner at all times. Administer and comply with the policies and procedures of Region 18, NJCAA, SLCC, and Athletic Department as it relates to the BSB/athletic program.

In accordance with SLCC and athletic policies and procedures, and under the direction of the head coach, purchase, store, issue, and maintain equipment and supplies for the baseball program. Coordinate and facilitate the game/practice equipment/grounds, diamond needs. (Uniforms, DVD/scoreboard/diamond, etc.)Assure the grounds on and around the baseball field/practice field are maintained to the athletic and facilities high standards which relate to functionality and visibility of the facility by appropriate watering, application of fertilizer, mowing, weeding, pruning, irrigation systems repairs, artificial turf maintenance, dirt maintenance, aerating, etc.

Assure baseball diamond-related facilities are clean and maintained to SLCC standards by cleaning stands/stadium, restrooms, concession areas, locker rooms, offices, etc. appropriate to each facility's usage. Assure maintenance equipment is taken care of and kept in good working condition (ready to use) by working with the grounds department on regular and needed repairs and maintenance of field equipment.

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent.
1-2 years baseball coaching experience in High School orCollege setting.
**Certified professional-level experience considered.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors degree preferred.1-4 years baseball coaching experience in a college setting preferred.1-2 years experience in baseball field maintenance/groundskeeping preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knows fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures for assisting in a comprehensive, highly competitive community college athletic program. Knows baseball rules, skills, techniques, and strategies at the intercollegiate level; athletic training procedures and techniques; risk management. Knows techniques and methods of groundskeeping and all aspects of baseball field preparation and maintenance. Preferred knowledge of OSHA and exposure control procedures; NJCAA/Region 18 policies and procedures. Able to assist with with administrative and managerial concepts and practices of an assistant coach on a college level. Able to prepare, maintain and groom baseball field, practice facilities, and adjacent improved areas. Able to analyze, break down, and develop strategies of baseball play and skill development; use scouting process to assess players skills, strengths, weaknesses, and strategies.
