Salary/Pay Range: $50,000 - $54,275 academic year. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications.

Summary

The full time Clinical Instructor of Inclusive Early Childhood Education will have distance education experience in teaching and supervising field placement students in early childhood education as well as project management expertise. The person in this role should have a strong interest in inclusive, innovative and collaborative approaches to teacher education, especially school/university partnerships that leverage technology to enhance access. This position supports students completing the BA in IECE degree alongside the ECSE Apprenticeship Program and works with employer and state agency partners in the new UCCS state-registered apprenticeship program. This position will provide advising, student support, and field supervision for students in the UCCS ECSE Apprenticeship Program as well as data collection and compliance reporting.



This is a grant-funded contracted position. Funding is available for the term of July 1, 2024 through December 31, 2026.



Essential Functions

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
    • Supervise ECSE Apprenticeship students in their employment sites; Supervision of every 12 teacher candidates each semester is equivalent to teaching one course each semester
    • Attend meetings for university supervisors, department faculty, external partners, and grant program teams
    • Collaborate with IECE Program Coordinator/Grant PI to administer the IECE apprenticeship program
    • Support IECE Apprenticeship participants from recruitment through graduation through outreach, employer liaison work, career navigation, and program advising

    Related to IECE Apprenticeship Cohort Support:
    • Collaborate with grant PI on recruitment of transfer students for cohort enrollment
    • Provide on-going relationship and advising support for apprenticeship students
    • Maintain communication with apprenticeship employer sites
    • Maintain communication and reporting with state agency partners (CDEC, CDLE, and others)
    • Maintain on-going collaboration with grant PI on required data reporting
    • Collect required data for compliance reporting, prepare required reports



    Related to Supervision of Apprentices/Teacher Candidates:
    • Complete Educator Disposition Assessments for teacher candidates and enter these evaluations and formal observation evaluations for mentor teachers into an assessment management system
    • Grade teacher candidates' work submitted in an assessment management system (lesson plans, lesson reflections, video analysis assignments, etc.)
    • Visit school sites regularly (in-person or virtually) to observe teacher candidates and to give formal and informal feedback on their teaching.
    • Meet individually with mentor teachers to discuss teacher candidates' growth and needs
    • Ensure effective communication about expectations and support for the work and concerns of mentor teachers and teacher candidates
    • Meet with each teacher candidate individually for midterm evaluation
    • Complete a summative evaluation of each teacher candidate at the end of each semester
    • Respond to student learning needs in a timely manner

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Special Education or closely related field.

    • At least three years of professional teaching experience within early childhood education.

    • Two years experience with distance/online learning

    Physical Requirements:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move. Employee is occasionally required to have long periods of sitting, moderate bending, and fine motor skills. Tasks may involve looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
