Job Description
The Department of Psychology at the University of Hartford is seeking candidates for a non-tenure track position as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology to begin in August 2024. Primary teaching responsibilities include courses in human diversity and variation (identity, gender, sexuality, cultural, psychological), developmental psychology, introductory psychology, as well as in areas of the candidate's area of specialization.



Essential Job Duties


Required Qualifications
The teaching load is seven courses per academic year (3-4 or 4-3 across Fall-Spring). Candidates should show a willingness and ability to employ technology in teaching. Additionally, candidates will be expected to engage in regular departmental service such as curriculum development, advising, student recruitment, undergraduate honors, and student research. Ongoing curriculum development will primarily focus on the development of major concentrations. Excellent teaching, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Candidates should demonstrate the commitment and ability to recruit, mentor, and actively engage undergraduate students in research. We prefer a doctoral degree in psychology or a closely related field and will consider candidates with a masters degree with licensure/certification to practice in a related mental health field (e.g., licensed professional counselor)
Preference will be given to applicants who have demonstrated engagement in social justice or multiculturalism in their approaches to teaching, service and scholarship.
