Job Summary: Instructor will be responsible for all tasks and activities related to course/workshop instruction in the specialized field of Pool & Spa Operation. This includes the workshop curriculum and presentation, exam preparation, administering the required State exam, and verifying the exam results. Instructor should have a working knowledge of pool and spa management, regulations, disease and accident prevention, chemical calculations, filtration and circulation, water chemistry, water testing and adjustments, and problem solving.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties: 1. Responsible for all tasks and activities related to the delivery of a Certified Pool Operator course and content.
2. Administer required State test and verify/report test results for each student.
3. Responsible for the management of an effective learning environment.
4. Follow approved course curriculum, per college policy, assuring successful completion of identified student learning outcomes.
5. Teach current State regulation in pool and spa management, safety and risk management in person and via Zoom.
6. Engage students through classroom discussions and activities.
7. Ensure students are engaged and given multiple opportunities to acquire knowledge and skills they will need to successfully complete the course, apply what they have learned and successfully pass the required Utah State examination.
8. Maintain current industry standards and best practices as appropriate.
9. Adapt curriculum to meet changing industry trends/standards or new State or county regulations.
10. Demonstrate and support professional commitment to program goals, as well as Division, School and College policies, Mission and Values.
11. Complete required training, per college policy.
12. Maintain open line of communication with program manager/coordinator.
13. Other duties as assigned to support program success.Report time to Coordinator each pay period.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued:

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Biology, Chemistry or related environmental studies.
1-2 years experience as a Certified or Registered Pool Operator in Utah.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous teaching experience preferred, but not required. Well versed in classroom technology.Certification with the National Swimming Pool Foundation as an Instructor preferred but can be completed after hire.Spanish-speaking a plus.Has a working knowledge of Utah State code R392-302, pool and spa management, risk management, disease and accident prevention, chemical calculations, filtration and circulation, water chemistry, water testing and adjustments, and problem solving.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 1. Excellent written and oral communication skills.2. Strong interpersonal communication skills.3. Computer and software skills, including PowerPoint and Zoom.4. Must be adaptable, flexible, and dependable.5. Demonstrated proficiency and passion for teaching.6. Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.
