Overview
The School of Nursing is part of the SDSU College of Health and Human Services. It is one of five schools, the School of Nursing, the Graduate School of Public Health, the School of Social Work, the School of Exercise and Nutrition, and the School of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences.
The School of Nursing has both undergraduate and graduate degree programs, and trains future nurses in conjunction with a wide variety of community health care agencies who provide student placement for educational experiences and training purposes.
Responsibilities
Position Specific Responsibilities (95%)
- Assists Director and APRN Concentration Chair with launching the PMHNP program.
- Consults with faculty and SDSU leadership on graduate curricular updates and works within Curriulog to ensure University curricular approval.
- Engage in outreach activities that involve the dissemination of information to a diverse population of students to assist students in pursuing their educational and career goals by providing factual data about occupational and educational requirements related to student aptitudes, interests.
- Conducts various research and data collection assignments in support of the APRN Concentration chair and Director.
- Manages regular and ongoing coordination between administrative offices in San Diego and Imperial Valley
- Maintains graduate databases and student files.
- Works closely with APRN Concentration Chair and Director to maintain CCNE accreditation, BRN approval, and WASC.
- Maintains mapping graduate course work with AACN Essentials within Assessment database Nuventive.
- Requires some travel to Imperial Valley
- Provide specific administrative support for graduate student advisement.
- Assist Clinical Placement coordinator with securing APRN clinical placements.
- Works with UCSD subcontract
- Maintains and communicates graduate handbooks, policies, procedures, information and instructions to a diverse population of faculty, staff and students.
- Facilitate student orientation while creating plans of study and following up various times a semester on academic progress.
- Verify data by accessing university databases and file systems. Construct tables and documents for data analysis and reporting.
- Coordinate with others in the School of Nursing and university to finalize data for inclusion in reports.
- Prepare drafts of all reports for review by the Director and APRN Concentration Chair. Upload final approved reports into required state or national repositories.
- Coordinate with others in the School of Nursing and university to finalize SON grant proposals. Assist in the preparation of drafts of all reports for review by Principle Investigators.
- Assist with preparations related to accreditation reviews and site visits.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
- Equivalent to a bachelors degree in appropriate field related to program/project, or additional experience may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis.
- Four years of progressively responsible experience in technical or administrative assignments, two years of which would be at the Program Specialist I level.
Desired Qualification
- Advanced degree
- Higher education administrative experience.
- Knowledge of Nursing and Nursing Education.
- Familiarity with public policy and the policy making process.
- Experience with non-profit organizations.
- Strong writing and oral communication skills.
- Experience with student recruitment and enrollment management.
- Ability to examine, evaluate and redesign administrative operations and procedures.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems.
- Ability to use independent judgment and maintain records containing confidential student information.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced, demanding, and complex work environment.
- Some travel may be needed
