Working Title: Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance

Job Summary/Essential Functions: This is an open recruitment; three days' notice will be provided prior to closure of recruitment.

This position works within the athletic department and reports to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. This position serves as a member of the Athletic Compliance Council. It is the responsibility of the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance/Student Services to coordinate, implement, facilitate, and oversee the Athletic Compliance program. This includes the educational, monitoring and investigating components as well as other areas with the program that strengthen and enhance the athletic compliance efforts. This position works closely with the Athletic Administration and provides oversight for any Compliance interns.

It is the responsibility of the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance/Student Services to inform and educate Athletic Department personnel, student-athletes, support staff who are external to the Athletic department, student support groups, boosters, former students and student-athletes and the public regarding NCAA and conference rules and regulations, as well as, monitor all phases of recruiting, financial aid, academic eligibility and other areas requiring specific oversight. In addition, any issues regarding non-compliance with such rules and regulations shall be reviewed, investigated and reported through this position. It is the responsibility of the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance/Student Services to insure that the total institutional compliance program is engaged, functioning and accountable. In addition to compliance, this position will also provide oversight and leadership in all aspects of student athlete support services. This may include, but not limited to: academic support and student athlete advisory committee.

Conditions of Employment: Rules compliance is an important responsibility of this position. Employee shall support and comply with all applicable rules and regulations of the NCAA, the Big Sky Conference, and other established bodies that govern intercollegiate athletics and the University.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday with some evening and weekend work during athletic events.
 


Required Degree: Bachelor's Degree

Degree required by: Date of application

Required Discipline(s) for Degree: Bachelor's Degree in higher education, sports management, business administration, law or related field.

Minimum Qualifications: Two years of full-time experience in intercollegiate athletics at the NCAA Division I or II level in the area of compliance.

Experience working with Compliance Assistant Internet (CAi)

Experience working with Legislative Services Database for the internet (LSDBi).

Experience with Academic Progress Rate database (APR).

Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work with people in a fast paced and potentially hectic environment.

Must have a thorough understanding of special demands of the athletic environment with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with student-athletes, coaches, athletic department staff, boosters, University administration, faculty and surrounding community.

Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to compile, prepare, write and review reports, as well as, the capacity to analyze, comprehend and provide appropriate solutions to problems and courses of action.

Computer literacy.

Additionally, candidates must offer a demonstrated high degree of interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency or diversity.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in higher education, sports management, business administration, law or related field.

Four years of full-time experience in intercollegiate athletics at the NCAA Division I or II level in the area of compliance.

Experience conducting training sessions for multiple groups, including internal and external constituencies.

Involvement in professional NCAA and athletic organizations regarding compliance.
