The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Expertise is required in the specific area of palliative care and strong palliative training. The candidate must have experience with palliative radiation, and it is preferable to have residency or fellowship in a palliative program. Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree. Required certifications include eligibility for American Board of Radiology Certification.

Teaching responsibilities may include the teaching, training, and mentoring of radiation oncology and medical physics residents, graduate students, and visiting trainees, etc. Informal and formal teachings include, but are not limited to, participating in resident didactic series, both as a lecturer and as an in-person discussant.

Clinical responsibilities may include providing stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), proton therapy, intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), and high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy as treatment modalities in the care of palliative cancer patients.

The broad range of radiation treatments available include External-Beam Radiation Therapy (Proton Therapy, Image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), Intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), Photodynamic therapy (PDT), Total body irradiation (TBI), Total skin electron beam therapy (TSEBT)), and Stereotactic Radiosurgery (CyberKnife, Edge, Gamma Knife, TrueBeam), as well as Internal Radiation Therapy (brachytherapy, MammoSite). The brachytherapy suite at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine is a state-of-the-art, dedicated outpatient facility specializing in high-dose rate (HDR) treatments for prostate, gynecologic, and head/neck cancers. It features advanced in-room imaging, including BK ultrasound and fluoroscopy, and is located next to MRI services for precise 3D treatment planning.

With the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Radiation Oncology provides patient care at the Ruth and Raymond Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine and fourteen community-based sites.
