Job Description:

Position Purpose

Facilities Management is an exceptionally talented team built from a diverse group of individuals who are passionate about providing the highest levels of quality craftsmanship, customer service, and teamwork through sustainable practices and who take pride in supporting the mission of the University and Facilities Management "We Care" principle values.

The purpose of the Master Locksmith position is to provide all-encompassing locksmith services to University properties and the Brown community such as students, faculty and staff. Master Locksmiths must also review and provide recommendations to Brown University's Design Standards, project hardware selections, and attend construction design reviews pertaining to door and lock schedules and keying needs.

This position is considered essential. Personnel may be required to respond to campus emergencies both during and off shift.

Job Qualifications & Competencies
  • Minimum four years of full-time professional experience as a locksmith OR one year of locksmith-specific training and three years of professional locksmithing experience;
  • Experience leading and directing others, as needed;
  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • OSHA 10-Hour certification preferred and must be received within three-months of employment. Certification must be maintained annually;
  • Excellent computer skills, specifically using software such as: Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word); Google Workspace (Gmail, Sheets, Docs); CMMS/IWMS (work order) systems; key management & database software;
  • Maintain working knowledge of state-of-the-art tools, software, and practices through training and learning opportunities;
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and an ability to interact in a positive manner with the entire campus community via phone, email, and in-person;
  • Ability to prioritize work of competing urgency and importance and successfully see jobs through to completion.
