Job Summary
Assist the Chief Information Security Officer and IT Security Engineer with the implementation and monitoring of security measures for IT systems. Assist in planning, coordination, and implementation of University security practices through the development and implementation of policies, standards, and procedures. Aids in developing and delivering Cyber training strategy for the University Community.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary front-line responder for day-to-day security incidents across the university network; conduct active monitoring and rapid investigations utilizing industry-standard endpoint protection and cloud productivity platforms
- Conduct routine vulnerability management lifecycles, including identification, remediation requirements generation, and validation testing, and assist in comprehensive risk assessments to quantify institutional exposure
- Perform routine vulnerability management services that include vulnerability identification, generating vulnerability remediation or mitigation requirements, and validation testing
- Conduct rigorous security audits of third-party software and internet applications to ensure compliance with university data protection standards
- Partner closely with internal IT teams to design, strengthen, and implement robust security strategies and infrastructure across campus
- Collect, analyze, and summarize security data and trends to provide actionable statistics, supporting information, and strategic recommendations for continuous system enhancements
- Maintain expert knowledge of emerging security threats, advanced countermeasures, industry trends, regulatory updates, and cybersecurity best practices
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- Associate's Degree or two (2) or more years of post-secondary education/formal technical training
Required Experience
- Three (3) or more years of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Experience
- One (1) or more Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) certifications CISSP, CISA or other industry standard IT Security certifications in good standing (ex: CompTIA Security+ Cert)
- Experience working in higher education IT
Proposed Salary
$60,617 - $64,480
This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.

KNOWLEDGE
- Adhere to University policies and procedures to meet Institutional goals and support University's mission for student success
- Working knowledge and experience with various regulatory requirements including: PCI/DSS, HIPPA and FERPA, standards and control frameworks including NIST and ITIL
- Knowledge of IT security architecture including cloud based services; firewall and routing principles
- Knowledge of encryption and authentication technologies including Active Directory
SKILLS
- Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills
- Experience with server operating systems including but not limited to: Linux (Red Hat), Windows, Server, and MAC
- Experience with network protocols and services including: TCP/IP, FTP, HTTP, SSH, SMB, LDAP, etc.
