Job Summary
The University of Colorado, Boulder's Health and Wellness Medical Services group is seeking applications for a Lead Medical Provider! As a practitioner of medicine and advanced nursing, duties are performed in accordance with established standards and ethics of medical and nursing practice, personal qualifications and the administrative policies and procedures of Medical Services. Within this framework duties are carried out with considerable latitude for independent professional judgment and action.
This position is also supervisory and will supervise assigned medical providers to ensure that institutional and clinic goals and objectives are met.

Medical Services staff understand and are committed to the unique health concerns of our student population, making us an unparalleled source of advocacy for student wellness! Medical Services provides a wide range of health care services for students for primary care, physicals, sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, allergy shots, vaccinations, travel health care, and concussion care. Our skilled team of providers collaborate to support the overall health of our students with our team of physicians/nurses, physical therapists, registered dietitians, chiropractors, acupuncturists, and massage therapists.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Patient Care:
- Perform thorough and accurate medical evaluations and design a treatment plan in accordance with medical guidelines and standards.
- Communicate with and educate patients regarding their medical condition, follow-up care, and preventive measures.
- Patient care also includes:
- EMR documentation: Prepare and maintain thorough, accurate, and clear medical records which justify the diagnoses, treatment(s) and billing codes.
- Clinical decision making: Make appropriate use of Pharmacy, Laboratory, Radiology, Physical Therapy, as well as other ancillary services in clinical decision making in accordance with the standard practice of medicine.
- Consultation: Readily seek appropriate consultation for unusual or unresponsive cases while following established referral procedures.
- Provide leadership and supervision of Medical Services Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs) and/or Physicians (DO/MDs).
- Participate on Medical Services leadership team to set guidelines and practice standards as well as complete special projects in collaboration with other designated supervisors within Medical Services.
- Provide mentorship and annual performance management evaluation for the providers assigned to your direct supervision in Medical Services
- Coordinate scheduling and leave requests of the providers, with support from the Manager of Provider Services.
- Assist with talent acquisition including hiring, firing and disciplinary action.
What You Should Know
- This position is 90% academic year (August-May) with 32 hours scheduled in clinic/meetings/admin time and 4 hours floating administrative time to cover additional duties including catching up on communications and after-hours lab coverage (approximately 4 separate weeks per year).
- During the summer (June-July) this position is 80%, with 32 hours scheduled in clinic/meetings/admin time.
- Must be eligible to obtain medical liability insurance.
- Eligible for clinical privileges as determined by the Student Health and Wellbeing Credentialing Team/Human Resources.
What We Can Offer
- The salary range for this 90% position is $96,967 - $141,750 annually, depending on years of experience and APN licensure.

What We Require
Either:
- Registered Advanced Practice Nurse with State of Colorado by the hire date.
- 5 years of APN experience including at least 3 years of family practice, sexual and reproductive health or similar/appropriate primary care experience.
- National certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse, such as from ANCC the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Association of Nurse Practitioners (ANNP).
- MD or DO degree Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Colorado by date of hire.
- Department Board certification in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics/Adolescent.
- Medicine, Emergency Medicine or other college health appropriate ABMS American Board of Medical Specialties -recognized medical specialty.
- Prescriptive authority in state of Colorado.
- Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration.
- Current BLS Basic Life Support certification.
