Position Description

The Communication and Media Department at Seattle University is inviting applications for a part-time adjunct faculty member beginning in Fall 2026. Specifically, we are seeking an applicant to teach one section per quarter of our Practical Experience course (CMME-4000). This course meets in person on MW from 3:40 - 5:45 p.m. The academic year begins on/ around Sept. 1 and ends on/around June 15.
This is a community engaged learning course that pairs student teams with local nonprofit organizations to support their communications work. Candidates who have experience in strategic communication, public communication, or the non-profit sector are particularly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

  • M.A. in Mass Communication, Strategic Communication or other Relevant Discipline
  • Professional experience in strategic communication
  • Demonstrated potential or experience in teaching at the college level

Compensation at a Glance
Salary Range: $5000 per course with terminal degree, $4800 non-terminal degree.

Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate's gender or any other protected status.
